I had some trouble with Creator 2010, so I decided to uninstall and reinstall the program. The uninstall appeared to be complete, but it still appears in the list of installed programs. When I try to reinstall the program, the only choices I get are to repair or uninstall the program, both options fail with errors. So now I'm stuck... can't uninstall, repair or install! How can I get a clean uninstall so I can get a clean install?!?

Using Vista O/S...

HERE is the clean uninstall for Creator 2010 in Vista.
HERE is the same thing for XP.
P4 @3.20GHz on Albatron PX-865PE Pro II with 2GB DDR-SDRAM, FX5900XT video, Viewsonic monitors,
BENQ DW1640, in XP Pro and Windows 7

I blame it all on Global Warming / Global Cooling / Global Staying the Same  [pick one]

I appreciate the help but... I followed the instructions for VISTA precisely. Creator 2010 continues to appear in the list of installed programs and will not allow me to uninstall, repair or install... Now what???

Here are a few more checks to get a clean uninstall. Sorry if this is complicated. This is assuming you have the Pro version

1. A few registry items are probably left behind causing Roxio to appear in the Control Panel. Remove these keys if uninstall fails from Add/Remove programs. My guess is you still have a few of these around.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{46578609-AD6D-4E69-AC8F-28B89C090F3B}
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{4D0AAB66-E604-4E82-A5AF-01AB97CB506D}
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{5491453D-8C3E-4785-AC5C-E9A4DABF378A}
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{5A06423A-210C-49FB-950E-CB0EB8C5CEC7}
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{60B2315F-680F-4EB3-B8DD-CCDC86A7CCAB}
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{65A79175-3C4C-41F4-92AF-BA1DDDBA0626}
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{733CDF24-0A93-426E-AA89-DF281EB54793}
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{74DC8A26-4E05-40B6-AD11-C9428A1AE150}
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{86DDDAAD-AEB9-42E5-BE01-0E8FABD2BB29}
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{87A83C6F-F53C-448A-B078-FF00E3EAEB29}
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{89A15676-78AE-4D51-BF5B-DEE3E0D46C94}
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{906C01EE-B242-4197-AE85-6C506E1B869B}
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{9A00EC4E-27E1-42C4-98DD-662F32AC8870}
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{A121EEDE-C68F-461D-91AA-D48BA226AF1C}
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{A33E7B0C-B99C-4EC9-B702-8A328B161AF9}

2. Delete these folders
C:\Program Files\Roxio 2010
C:\ProgramData\Uninstall\{89A15676-78AE-4D51-BF5B-DEE3E0D46C94}\
C:\ProgramData\Sonic\

Let me know if that helps.

Du

BTW the key that defines Roxio Creator 2010 Pro in the Control Panel is

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{89A15676-78AE-4D51-BF5B-DEE3E0D46C94}

Du- Thanks! I deleted the following items:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{89A15676-78AE-4D51-BF5B-DEE3E0D46C94}

C:\ProgramData\Uninstall\{89A15676-78AE-4D51-BF5B-DEE3E0D46C94}\

Still need to test the installation, but Roxio 2010 isn't in the installed program list anymore. I'll let you know shortly if the program installs correctly...

Does not work.

here is my laest request to Roxio.

I am the proud owner of every version of Roxio dating back 9 years. I have all the “Easy Media Creator” versions from 7-10. Yet despite this when my computer has problems its Roxio related. The latest and greatest “issue” let’s say.  Is the inability of my desktop to migrate from XP professional to Vista Ultimate?  After a night and I mean a night of trying 9 hours. I still am told that Vista cannot continue until I have removed Backup MyPC 6.   I have removed everything, the programs the traces of anything relating to Roxio, Sonic or Backup MyPC.  This has probably removed a number of vital programmes from my computer, and incidentally do you know how may references there are to the above programmes in your standard registry, unfortunately I do! Yet despite my blisters on fingers from repetitive F3 del enter, I still have the problem Vista cannot continue until I have removed Backup MyPC 6.   Question 1, why as a reputable company are you selling a product that is next to impossible to remove from the customers computer, what potential ulterior motive do you have in doing this, or is it just a lazy programmer. I can now purchase at extra cost any number of programmes that promise me that they can remove all traces of your programme.   Question 2, how do I remove the traces of Backup MyPC 6, so I can get on with my life?  Eagerly awaiting your response. mad.gif

And what do you really honestly think that sort of a letter will yield?

If you read through this thread that you interrupted, it concluded with a successful install.

The same Clean Install will do all you need and cost you nothing.

This what just work for me on my XP Pro SP3.

The other direction Roxio have did not help and, my installer kept saying repair or remove. Repair did not do anything and Remove crashed the installer.

Thanks again you guys for the post.
