I am about to pull my hair out. It can't be THAT hard!

I have created a video in MyDVD. I cannot upload it to YouTube without converting it to an MPEG file. I can't see how to do that anywhere.

I have saved the "project" to a DVD and tried RE-capturing it to my computer, but it is only capturing 8 seconds instead of the 8 minutes.

Please help - this is really ridiculous how much I'm I've spent looking into this.

Open your project
Select the video and Edit Movie
Just above the preview, is small icon that looks like a reel of film. Click that (output to file). Choose the format you need (several choice for MPEG2 for DVD), Filename and folder. Click on Create Video File.

You really should have started with Videowave instead of MyDVD.

I cannot believe how SIMPLE and how UNobvious that was.

While I like this program for most of it's aspects, it really isn't "new" user friendly. I didn't mean to choose "MyDVD", the menu options aren't very clear so I chose what sounded like the best. It's confusing that MyDVD and Videowave seem to be the exact same. How are they different? Why are they different?

Videowave is for assembling your video from the various source, adding, audio, transitions, effects etc and outputting (you don't save) to a video file. If you use "save" then all that is saved is your project files which is just a listing of what is in your project and what do do with it. There is no video in the project file.

myDVD is the program to use once you have created your video project. It is mean for creating your menu, adding the completed Videowave projects, and finally burning to a DVD.

Roxio has finally gotten away from calling the program "Easy" since it really is not that easy and there is a learning curve. It is best to start with simple project instead of jumping in a creating your ultimate video

If you think about it, their name says it all:
Videowave - edits video
MyDVD - creates the menu and burns the DVD

They are somewhat integrated now. By slecting your movie in MyDVD and 'Edit Movie', you get Videowave. Personally, I prefer to use two completely separate applications. When I edit, I don't want to get confused with DVD authoring terms or features. Most integrated apps don't seem to be that good IMHO at doing one or the other.

I can see how the 'Home' app could be confusing. I don't use it. You can access all the main application using the Start Menu. You only need the Home app for the Record Now technology. Backon Track, Cineplayer, Creator Classic, Label Creator, Media Manager, Music Disc Creator, MyDVD, PHotoSuite, Sound Editor, Video Copy & Convert, and Videowave have their own entry on the Start Menu.

You could put short-cut links to Videowave, myDVD and other often used programs on the desktop. That way you don't even have to go thru the Start menu as Jim mentions.
