mad.gif Exatly as the SP4 of Creator 2009, the new version of CinePlayer does not play any dvd at all.
I am running Vista 32 (Ultimate) with an Nvidia. But I think the problem is in something else.
Anyone have the same problem? Ask for a solution is a miracle.

I just installed Creator Pro 2010 and I too can't play DVD movies (commercial) and doesn't read *.ifo files. EMC 9 Ultimate played it well. I have Vista x64 with 8gb RAM with a nVidia video card. You would think with the newest software it would be right the first time. I knew I should've gotten NERO!

There is no such thing as EMC 9 Ultimate???

You have to do a little homework before you buy…

If you bought it from Roxio you have 30 days to return it.

There is an EMC 9 Ultimate.. google is your friend.

That add-on is for blu-ray players and I don't know why it should be .. I'm talking about regular dvd player. Something's amiss. I use Cyberlink for Blu-Ray movies.

There was never an EMC 9 Ultimate sold by Roxio… There is a Creator 2009 Ultimate, sold right here at the Store but no longer available. EMC 9 ceased production 2 years ago.

You cannot play a Blu-ray disc on a DVD anymore than you can play a DVD on a CD Player…

For BD you must have a BD Burner or Player to view it.

If you have a drive it most likely came with Player Software of some sort since it is required…

But Roxio does require the BD Plug-in for CinePlayer to work.

It looks like Kanahi is talking about standard DVDs, I see no mention of Blu-Ray except where he says he uses Cyberlink to play them.

Which application? IF you are talking about Cineplayer, sounds like the Cineplayer codec pack didn't install correctly. No other application in Creator 2010 will open commercial DVDs.

I think your right! Wow – I had my mind caged & locked into BD… huh.gif

I don't know how you got fixated on Blu-Ray but that's okay. When I insert the DVD (not blu-ray) Cineplayer starts, the disc starts to spin then stops. It'll ask if I want to play the movie from where it left off. Whenever I press 'yes' or 'no' nothing happens. The menus on the player are all greyed out and can't click on anything except for the settings. I did uncheck the 'hardware acceleration' to see if that was the culprit but still didn't work. BTW I don't have a Blu-Ray burner yet so that plug-in is not useful... for now. LOL BTW it doesn't recognize IFO files to play

My gear..

Vista Ultimate x64 w/ SP2
Dell XPS m1530
Blu-Ray player
Intel Core 2 Duo 2.2 ghz
8gb RAM
nVidia 8600M GT 256mb graphic card

This also happened when I installed Creator 9 Ultimate until the update come out.

I uninstalled Creator 9 using Revo Uninstaller unsure.gif

EMC 9 is not relevant, stopped making it 2 years ago and this the 2nd version since then…

When you click on Help – About in CinePlayer what is the version number?

If you click Open does the drive show?

If you ‘Browse Files’ and point it to the VIDEO_TS folder will it play anything when you select the VIDEO_TS.IFO or any of the VTS_x.IFO files?

Have you run the Repair option from Add/Remove Programs?

Cineplayer: Version 5.3.C02
Build: 530B89C
Yes the drive shows

No it doesn't read any VIDEO_TS.IFO files. I only mentioned the previous version of Creator 9 Ultimate because it did the same thing and got corrected on the upgrade. The main reason I got Creator 10 Pro was the AVCHD easy conversation which works flawlessly. Will try to repair the program... maybe something didn't install right. If that doesn't work I'll uninstall and reinstall. Thanks for the patience.

Kanehi,

That's Creator 2010 Pro that you have. [Creator 10 is an old version] smile.gif

You're saying something 'doesn't read' .IFO files. Would you please clarify this for me?
With a commercial DVD in the drive:-
-If you double-click on 'Computer' to run Windows Explorer, do you see all your drives in there with the optical drive displaying the name of the DVD?
-If you right-click on that drive and select 'Open' does it show a VIDEO_TS folder?
-If you right-click and Open that folder, do you see a bunch of .BUP, .IFO, and .VOB files ?

That's about as far as you'll be able to go in Windows Explorer, but I need to know if your system can see the bunch of files.

Thank you,
Brendon

-Okay I did a recover and no go.
-Under 'Setting', 'Playback Option' I associated *.ifo files, mpeg4 and divx but still doesn't play
-It does show VIDEO_TS folder
-All files shows under Windows Explorer
-It's Creator 2010 Pro.. just got the software
-Again the drive spins, stops and that's it but now it doesn't ask if I want to play from the beginning.

I have 3 other programs that can play DVDs... Dell Direct, Windows Media and Cyberlink so it's not a big deal but it's irksome

Thank you. You've ruled out disc drive error, which was what I wanted to clarify.

rolleyes.gif As I wrote in another post if you create a brand NEW account and use CinePlayer with that NEW account, you will be able to watch any commercial DVD.
I don't know why this trick works... but it DOES!
Try it!

None in Roxio can answer the question: why the main account can't watch dvd and a new one do?

I created a 'Guest' account and it played!!! How in the heck did you figure that out? Is this a glitched? I have to use another account to play videos? That's rather idiotic! I guess Roxio figured that people use an Administrator account to install programs and access a regular account to use those programs? Hope this can be fixed cause like I said it's idiotic!

blink.gif Obvious it does not happen in all the configurations, but in some computers. The most of the time this does not happen.

It just means that for some reason permissions are messed in your current account. This possibly can only be fixed by either repairing windows or re-installing windows. This has nothing to with how Roxio is installed. It still relies on system configuration.

Now that the problem is addressed is there any way of rectifying this? Is there a registry mod that can fix this? No way I'm going to reinstall Vista Ultimate just for this but then again there's no guarantee it'll work if I do. I'd rather have the inconvenience or not use Cineplayer to play DVDs at all. Don't get me wrong the program is terrific. I'll just wait it out until a more reasonable fix is found. Thanks for all you guys help.

I would think that you should ask Microsoft, since there are no permissions required for the Roxio software. It is an OS permission problem that you are experiencing.

angry.gif Why give these answer to people that are looking for an help? The permissions are not the problem because CinePlayer can show ANY file and you can listen to the commercial DVD audio, but you cannot watch commercial dvd video. Besides the program starts.

I really think that permissions are NOT the problem. Many people have this problem with a brand new computer. NO windows fault, but something in Roxio CinePlayer.

I and many people in this discussion group had this problem from Roxio 2009 SP4. Before that Service Pack the CinePlayer worked perfect.

So, NO permission problem.
