How is your camcorder connected to the PC? If not via Firewire it will not work very well if at all?
Is there a gap on the tape at the 33 sec point?
Are you trying to capture direct to DVD? A much better and safer method is to first capture to your hard drive?
What are your system specs, especially video card?

Yes, its connected via Firewire, no there is no gap at the 33 sec point. I am running an Intel Q9650 quad (3.0 gig) 8 GIGs of DDR2 1333 Ram, Two WD 500 GIG SATA HD's, Gigabyte EP45-UD34 MB, ATI Radeon 4870 X2 W/ 2GIGs of GDDR5, Win XP Pro 64 bit with all updates, newest video drivers, MB drivers. I hooked the camcorder to my backup system which is an: AMD 6200 (3.2 GIG Due Core), with 3 GIGs of DDR2 800, WD SATA 320GIG HD, ATI 4650 1GIG GDDR3, Win XP Pro 32 Bit running Nero 7 Premium Edition and it worked fine. The Nero 7 Premium Edition would not work on the XP 64 Bit so I picked up Roxio Easy CD, ran into the problem, upgraded to the new Rocio 2010, still have the problem. If you have any ideals, I would appreciate any help, I still want to get this to work on the Q9650 system. Thanks, Ken
Oh yea, I have tried both, downloading it to the HD and burn to the DVD, it made no difference

I always use a small, free utility called WinDV to capture from my digital camcorder. The reason I prefer that utility is that it captures the video into separate clips based on the timestamp on the tape. This makes it easy when editing, adding clips etc.
Part of your problem may well be the XP64, there are several posts with users having problems using that OS. Does the tape play (without capturing) when controlled via the capture program?

Yes, I used the capture program to view the tape and it played all the way through.

What happens if you install C2010 on your "backup" sustem and try the capture there?

Question - do you see the program create a scene when the tape stops?

I have not installed C2010 on the AMD system yet, I am going to take the system into work with me (I am a Computer Tech) and give it a try tomorrow (if I am not to busy) and see what happens. I will let you know what happens. Ken
Yes, after the tape stops, over on the Recently Imported side, the 33 sec of tape that transferred is there and you can watch the 33 sec.

Have you tried capturing from the camcorder using Windows Movie Maker or the utility (WinDV) I suggested above?

Yes, I used Windows Movie Maker tonight (about 2 hours ago) and it worked fine, I have not tried WinDV yet, I plan on downloaded it tomorrow night and trying it. Is the video quality better or about the same as Movie Maker? I was not real happy with the video quality of Movie Maker. Mon-Fri I am gone from 8AM till around 8PM, so I get about 2-3 hours a night to play around with this stuff, so I may not get back with you till tomorrow night. Thank you all for the help, Ken

I capture only to the DV avi format and have not found much difference between WMM, WinDV, Roxio or one or two other video programs I have - they all give me excellent quality.
You stated that your capture with C2010 always stopped at the 33 sec point. Is that with all tapes? What happens if you move the tape a few seconds further? Does it also stop?

I installed C2010 on my AMD System today at work and it did almost the same thing, it stoped at the 36 sec point, I will not repeat what I said.. As for trying a different tape, it's sad to say but I have been so focused on this one tape I did not even think about trying one of the other tapes to see if it would work any better. I left my camcorder and AMD system at work, so I will take the other tapes with me tomorrow and see what happens and I will move this tape past the spot it stops at and try it again to see if it will go past 33 or 36 sec. Thanks for starting me on a different direction. Ken

We had a similar post in C2009 where a different tape fixed the issue. I had a Sony HC7 for a few months a year ago. Sony only recommends their own tapes. I used a lesser expensive tape and got all kinds of drop-out which in turned caused capture issues. I ended up getting rid of the Sony and buying a Canon HV20 which wasn't so picky about the brand of tape.
The 3 tapes I am trying to capture are all Sony brand, they work fine in Nero 7 Prem, Windows Movie Maker, just not in C2010. I tried all 3 tapes today and every one of them stop (pause) between the 33 and 36 sec point.
I tried the other 2 tapes today and also moved the 1st tape to the 40 sec point and it worked for 32 sec before stopping (pausing) again. The other two tapes also stopped at the 32 to 36 sec points, I was able to do all 3 tapes using Windows Movie Maker. I don't understand how all three tapes work fine using any other program (WMM, Nero, WinDV) but will not work with C2010, plus I have tried it on two different systems (INTEL / AMD, Win XP Pro 32 bit and 64 bit).

Nothing to do with tapes etc. The Roxio video capture assumes incorrectly at times that the end of a scene is the end of the tape. It's a flaw in the Roxio program for capture, and pretty dreadful peole have to fallback to Windows MovieMaker to capture all the tape.

That was 'fixed' in one of the 2009 updates.
I have never been able to duplicate it even with a new tape and up to 1 minute of blank space between recordings!
If you are having trouble, it isn't because of the program.

Nah, notadigitalguru is stalking/bashing/hijacking older threads. His posts aren't wrong, though.
