I am new to this product. One of the reasons I purchased it was to capture audio from old cassettes. As a test I have connected an MP3 player to my microphone as input. I can hear the music fine through the speakers, but when I record it the sound is all garbled. I am using:
- Windows Vista 32bit
- Roxio Creator 2010 Pro
- Microphone (2-Realtek High definition audio)
I have all the levels microphone level and boost at the highest setting thinking this would help. It still doesn't work.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Audio capture from microphone problem

Problem could be that you are over driving the microphone input.
Do you have any others you could use like Line In?
If not then turn your levels down.

Thanks a lot. I am new to this and did not realize I had a line in. I must of been overloading the mic.
The Line In works, although there's some static. I can clean up the audio after.
If you have any ideas how to minimize the static before recording, please let me know.

Try grounding the computer to you input device and that your wires are good and tight. I assume that the static is not on the original.
If you have the Pro and installed the Extras, then look in your Programs for Bias Sound Soap. If you haven't activated it, you will have to do so throught their frustrating verification process. Add your file to Sound Soap; it does a great job of cleaning audio. Here is their sales pitch demo video.

Regardless of what I say about computer maintenance, there is no need to defrag a solid state hard drive.

Additionally, make sure you go back to your recording controls and mute any other inputs (mic, CD, etc.) that might exist. If any of those are un-muted, they could be picking up some electrical noise and adding that into your recording.
Hope that helps!
