I've just installed the download version of 2010 alongside my 2009 installation - it worked! Great improvement over previous agonising installs of Easy Creator.
I've created an iso image of a DVD in MyDVD, then tried to burn it to DVD using Creator Classic. It burns the iso image (90% overall displayed, 100% of file completed) and then it fails with a message about SCSI disk not present. It all used to work under 2009 - I also tried using the Creator Classic 2009 - exactly the same.
There's nothing wrong with the iso file - if I transfer it to another computer and use other burning software it burns and plays just fine.
I've unistalled the DVD burner driver and rebooted - no change.
Any ideas?

I'm running Vista 64, 4Gb memory, 500Gb hard disc

Just for grins try this.
Use the Home app and then Burn Image to Disc and see what happens.

Do you wanna hear me beg you to take me back?

I have this same problem. Burning and Verifying will work using the Home App screen.

However, using the Advanced portion of Copy/Burn a data disc uses Creator Classic.

This results in the SCSI device error noted above.

This did not happen in Creator 2009.

I just tested this on a recent re-image (Acronis True Image) with Vista Sp1, then Roxio C2010 installed.

Starting from the Home Screen, Data Copy, Burn Data Disc Advanced, that opens Craetor Classic. I choose, Burn From Disc Image File, I load a 4.35 ISO Image file made in MyDVD and burn..

As you see below it closed the disc and finished with no errors...

My thanks to all who have replied. I have tried using the Burn Image from the Home screen, and that (usually) works - I've just written 6 DVD discs, 1 failed. I haven't tried opening Creator Classic from the Home screen - I'm used to just opening it from a shortcut on my desktop - but that fails to write the DVD. It writes the data - the iso file - but as soon as it gets to 90% (ie all the iso file written, just the lead-out to go) it fails with the message 'SCSI device not installed' and error code 0X21000012 - a quick search on Google pulled up a 'we don't know what this error code means yet', which wasn't very helpful!
I also tried a DVD RW+ disk to avoid making too many coasters and that got to 95% in Creator Classic, but weirdly seemed to work if I put it in a DVD player or opened it in Media player. I usually use DVD -R discs - could this have anything to do with it? But I've used the same discs for years, and for months on this computer running Creator 2009, without any problems.
My DVD drive is a DH16A6S in an Acer Aspire X3200 PC. I think this is a Phillips drive as the Liteon site skips this number, but I can't find any firmware update for it.
Would a reinstall of Creator do the trick? I had 2009 installed, and just installed 2010 over the top, which seemed to work fine. But in the past I've had so many problems installing Roxio software than I'm sort of resigned to having to spend a day cleaning out my computer and reinstalling it. But if that isn't likely to fix it, I've got better things to do.
Any more advice before I just learn to live with things the way they are?

If you are burning iso files, many of us use the free utility ImgBurn. You can find a link to it in cdanteek's post above, #9 in his signature.

Using another program to burn may work, but the point is that Creator Classic 2010 should work.

I installed 2010 clean, then uninstalled it and installed it all over again. Same thing.

I'm using Vista Home Premium SP2, 64-bit. Maybe it's the SP2, or 64-bit that is the problem?

To repeat, my same system had no problems with Creator Classic 2009.

The problem is your drive or the media you are trying to feed it.

In Roxio you can use Classic – Burn Disc Image – Video Copy & Convert to burn an ISO.

If 3 completely separate programs won’t do it consistently, it is not a software issue.

The easiest to try is getting a small quantity of good media, like Verbatim.

I do use Verbatim media, almost exclusively. Also use Ridata and ProDisc.

ALL of these media worked fine with Creator Classic 2009.

None of them work with Creator Classic 2010.

I can burn using the main, simplified program, just not the Classic program.

I have ImgBurn and other burn programs that burn fine with the above mentioned media.

Therefore, I rule out the media. The media cannot all of a sudden go bad.

It appears there is a problem with Creator Classic.

The Ridata and ProDisc are value line media or below in quality. I've had bad verbatim media too, 50 pk DVD -R 8X, bought from Best Buy.

You never said what Roxio program wrote the six DVD disc's one failed? I would guess, that has to be media not the program.

Got to 95% and what? I've never had a disc not finish and work!

Media can suffer dye rot sitting on a shelf not burned to yet and do the same thing after you've made a good burn to the media.

If your looking for a firmware update for your drive you need to go to the Acer site. OEM drives for PC's like Dell, HP, Acer usually have poor firmware support.

I really had to get some discs burned before going on vacation, so I went back to Roxio Creator 2009.

I like using the Classic program to burn discs.

Using Creator Classic 2009 I burned 12 DVDs, a mixture of Verbatim, ProDisc and Ridata DVDs.

ALL worked flawlessly, including verification. The same discs that Creator Classic 2010 could not burn without the dreaded SCSI error.

Before Classic 2010, I would get about one bad disc burn in 100. With Classic 2010, I got a 100% failure rate.

Thanks for your advice, but I'm done also.

You just will not accept the fact that Creator Classic 2009 works fine.
Creator Classic 2010 will not.

Several other people have posted that they have the same SCSI error as I do. I know, bad discs.

I'll stick with my dry-rot discs, green-edged or not, and burn with confidence in 2009.

I believe you Ted, but you just keep repeating yourself and refuse to do some testing when asked.

I have 2009 & 2010 and I can burn images all day long on 3 different systems with 2010 using different parts of the Suite…

If you are so sure it is the program do a Repair or a Clean Install.
