I am getting an error when i open MyDVD saying some components are on the disk, please insert the disk.  I purchased the program (a few years ago) online so I don't have a disk.  If I click the close/cancel buttons enough it will eventually stop popping up and let me continue in the program.  i have windows XP media edition SP2.  i'm not sure if it is affecting any of the other components as I have only used it to create a DVD.

What program do you really have? Please give the exact name! Since Roxio Creator 2009 only came out a year ago you could not have purchased it several years ago and therefore must be referring to some other program suite.

Where do I find that information?  When i click on Help and about when I'm in MyDVD I see "Roxio Easy Media Creator 9" Should I be looking somewhere else?  This is also the name of the program in my programs list

Also, when i look at 'my account' it says "Roxio Creator 9 Suite"  Maybe it wasn't 'several' years ago or maybe i upgraded at some point.  But when i signed on it said my last visit to this forum area was Feb 2007...that's why i was assuming i have had this program that long.

You posted in the Creator 2009 forum but you have Easy Media Creator 9. They are 2 completely differerent programs and 2 years and version apart. Perhaps if your were to start a new thread in the EMC 9 forums (look under Easy Media Creator Legacy forums) someone might be able to help you

When I try to open EMC9  it goes into an installation and I get the error referenced above. This same error was reported on Creator 2009 and a clean install was recommended but i don't have the original disk. I purchased the program (a few years ago) online.  Is there any other option? If I click the close/cancel buttons enough it will eventually stop popping up and let me continue in the program. i have windows XP media edition SP2. i'm not sure if this is affecting any of the other components as I have only used it to create DVDs.

1) Back up your computer or create a restore point.
2) Go into Windows, Start, Control Panel, add or Remove Programs and try a repair.
3) Don't use a registry cleaner.
4)If the above doesn't work, live with it or look at the system requirements for Creator 2010 and consider a purchase.

If you bought it on-line and did not make a copy of the download, I'm afraid you are out of luck.  Roxio will not be able to help you (information from previous posts).  You could also try winning the lottery by buying a copy of the program off e-Bay and getting that to work.

Regardless of what I say about computer maintenance, there is no need to defrag a solid state hard drive.

I was going by this KB article.

Which says:

eStore or Downloaded Purchases

When purchasing software from the Roxio eStore, you are allowed 5 downloads in the period of 30 days if your installer should be corrupt, lost, or deleted.
•The best way to avoid this issue in the future is to order the backup disc that is added to your cart. This will ensure you have a permanent physical back up of your installer and is sent to your billing address.
•To find out how to re-download your software, please read the article on How to re-download software.

I read it as, unless he has made other arrangements (extended downloads), that the additional downloads are good only for 30 days (since that is listed first).  The last line is for those 30 day/5 time download.  No harm in trying but he should not be disappointed if they can't help.

The OP has EMC 9 so none of those downloads/refunds really apply. Since EMC 9 is no longer supported, the OP is propably out of luck.
