The Roxio web site (roxio.com/enu/company/default.html) states the program works with audible.com, but when using the Audiobook Creator, it say it does not work with passworded files and will not even display the book files. What do I do?

The program only works with audio books on a CD. Are/is your book(s) on a CD? Here are the instructions if they are.

Perhaps this is what you are reading (emphasis is mine)

"In addition, Roxio provides the CD recording technology for Windows XP, Microsoft's Windows Media Player and Audible.com, the Internet's leading provider of premium spoken word audio."

I'm pretty sure that means that they supply the technology to those entities mentioned.
