A Few Quick Questions

Greetings all!
I currently have Creator 2009 SE, with the video capture USB dongle. Works wonderfully in Vista Ultimate 64 Bit.
1. Will the Capture USB device work with 2010? I hate to have to purchase another one if I already have it
2. I can get the download vs physical shipment. Is there really a big difference between the two? Normally, when I purchase downloaded software...I save
to two or three discs, just to make sure that if I have a working backup in case of some kind of disaster...
That's pretty much it....thanks in advance
Bob

Yes – given that I only tested with Vista Pro 32bit…
A weird Spec on Roxio's site, claim the device only works with 2010? I've tested mine with all versions back to and including V6! Guess they want to limit it only to current users.
Look through the specs and features of 2010, you will have to decide.

Thanks Jim...
One final question. Is the "Physical" version of the software just backups of the download? Or is the Physical shipment the actual boxed version of the suite?
Thanks

Don’t have it – Don’t know
I would speculate it is box with a skimpy manual and several card offers, bound for the recycle bin…
I used to be reluctant with downloads (slow modem days) but now I burn them on arrival and include a WordPad doc with the Install Key. (one exception was EMC 10 and I lost that one in the string of versions)

Bob, Just interested why you are considering Creator 2010 -- latest toy syndrome? Are you looking at the regular or the Pro version?

Sknis...
I am contemplating, because I am also thinking of upgrading to a Blue Ray Burner. I have used Roxio 10 and 2009 to convert close to 85 home movies in the Super 8 / VHS formats to DVD. My wife feels very comfortable with Roxio in her making photo DVD's as well...and now I want to do widescreen formatting, etc. I am also on the fence about getting Windows 7 Professional. I have Vista Ultimate 64 bit on my desktops at present...and am pretty happy with it.
Jim...
Odd you should call the manuals skimpy...for Roxio has always put in a very comprehensive, thick, heavy manual in the products. I have used the manuals in 10 and 2009 SE and find them to be some of the better manuals that I have encountered. Roxio seems very "oldschool" there. In support....there is a 240 page manual for 2010.
I am certainly thinking of the 2010 PRO version. Has the Blue Ray abilities built in (only for burning, not for viewing). The burners that I like are the Buffalo and LG...and both come wth PowerDVD for viewing purposes.

Creator 2009 will do blu-ray with the plug in and will do wide screen natively.
I don't have a blu-ray burner but I do HD AVCHD discs all the time and the visuals are great. You must have a DVD player that will play AVCHD discs. You burn AVCHD to a standard DVD. Time on the disc is limited to about 40 minutes of video for a single sided disc.
The Pro is nice because it gives you the third disc with things like SonicFire Pro where you can do some interesting things with the music (if you have the time and patience), Light Zone for working with images, and of course BOT and Sound Soap. If your wife likes to dress up her slide shows, the first two programs are near professional quality.
If you do buy, see this for the comparison and don't forget to find the update discount.
