I've ben trying to find a solution to this. I am trying to add files from my documents folder of Canon  HF200 HD Camera which have the extension .mts. Yet when trying to add I get a hang up and a not responding message. Are these files not compatible? And if so what are my options. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Intel Core i7-950 3.00GHz, 1mb L2 +8MB shared L3
8GB DDR
1GB NVIDIA GeForce GTS 250

Windows Vista current updates installed.

I'm able to add some other video that is not high def and that works fine. I tried adding .mpg to the hd files but have the same issue with it hanging up and not responding, having to close down program. Would I be able to convert the files to something else that would be compatible and retain the original HD quality??

Your files should be AVCHD and Creator 2010 should import those fine.  Have you tried a different file from the camcorder?  If the file is corrupt somehow, you wouldn't know unless you tried a different one.  You could post a samplt for us on UpforDown or YouSendit.  Must be 200MB or smaller.  About 3 or 4min should do fine.  More than happy to check it out here.

I'm sure there is nothing wrong with the files as I have been able to work with them in other programs. The Creator program is crashing now even before I add the files. I click add media and my folders open and then when trying to select them to add the program hangs up. I don't see .mts in the supported files list for Creator2010. Why I have no Idea. I thought this program was to be able to edit HD Files from camcorders such as Canons HF200 which I own. Is it possible I am missing something here? I'll be happy to post one of my files if that might help. Thanks

Perhaps you should run the Repair from Add/Remove programs.

Got the file and there is something odd.  It does load just fine and I can edit, but I get a red circle instead of thumbnail like I should.  So there might be something not quite right with the file. Haven't ever seen this one. LOL

If you try the file again, be patient.  It did seem to lock up for me, but I waited and it finally showed up.

I have seen that and it indicates that there is some corruption. In the one I had, an HD mp4, the file didn’t play right either.

This file plays fine, I can edit fine and even exported it to another format.  So the file 'seems' fine. I'm uploading to UPforDown.  Here it is.

First off, thanks to both for helping. The footage was taken on the Rhein river in Germany just south of Koblenz and looks breathtaking on my plasma TV. My first stab at editing was with Adobe PE which I was able to do some yet not without some freezes but still not bad. Only other problem there was that my BD-RE was not supported by Adobe. Next I tried Pinnacle then Cyberlink and was able to take my footage and burn successfully to my BluRay and play back fine on my set top BR Player. I did have some glitches editing with Cyberlink and after reading about Roxio decided to give it a try. I understand all this stuff is still new but just looking for a good program to trim files add transitions and music. At this point I may go back to the Cyberlink program. I don't think the files are corrupted since I have burned them to Bluray fine. There's just something not working right with the Roxio program.

Go back to post #3.  You said that you added mpg2 to the file and that did not do anything.  Just to clarify.  Make sure you have windows set to display known file formats (folder options).  Once you have that set, delete the mts extension and substitute the mpg format lettering.  If you did not do that then you have a file that reads "name.mpg.mts where the computer will ignore the mpg extendion.
Regardless of what I say about computer maintenance, there is no need to defrag a solid state hard drive.

It is a little strange that my PC loads it without any problem yet Gary’s produces that weird Verboten symbol and yours refuses to cooperate whatsoever  ohmy.gif

Question… That was a very short segment, 37 sec + 15 frames, how did it get that short? Was that all you shot before stopping or did you trim that segment before uploading it?

Also give the suggestion Steve made a try.

I wonder if it's graphics card related. Do you run Videowave in 'software' mode?  Switching to software render didn't make a difference here.

Where is that option in Folder Options? I don't see it in the drop down menu under Folder Options.

That is actually one of the longer clips. It has not been trimmed, when putting together a travel video most of the clips average 5-10 seconds in the final edit.

Open Videowave or MyDVD.  Menu accross the top, click TOOLS / OPTIONS.   Top of that dialgo box, you will see Hardware and Software.  YOu can run the graphics test first if you like.  See what is automatically selected when finished.  You can manually select software and Click OK.  Try to import the file again.

OK Tried setting to software mode and still having problems. I can load one file but it does not appear in storyline. Shows in preview screen and will playback but when attempting to edit hangs up. At this point all control functions disapear below preview screen. I'm getting ready to bail on this program very soon as my free time is limited and my patience is waning.

I'm assuming with 8GB RAM that you have Vista 64bit?  Personally, I will wait before jumping on that band wagon.  I have 4GB and sometime check how much RAM I'm actually using.  Even with 4 or 5 apps, it's never gone over 1.5GB.  So I've never seen a need for 64bit plus not to mention all the issues i've seen here and other forums with 64bit XP, Vista and Win7.  There are no real advantages of running 32bit software on 64bit OS.
