Is mac2tivo capable of transferring *.tivo files back to the tivo like tivo desktop pref panel?
Since upgrading to Mac OS 10.6 (Snow Leopard) tivo desktop no longer works and
mac2tivo doesn't seem to allow .tivo files to be transferred to the tivo. I just bought
toast 10 and I'm disappointed to find out I can't seem to transfer shows back to the
tivo. The tivo transfer beta works fine transferring from the tivo to the mac, but I want
to also be able to transfer back to the tivo.

Thanks!

Unfortunately Mac2TiVo does not do this.

That is indeed unfortunate. I am suffering the same frustrating issue as darknater. Mac OS 10.6.2, Mac2Tivo, and can't transfer .tivo files that I have copied from my Tivo to my iMac back to my Tivo. Where is the logic there? I can play the .tivo files on my iMac using the Toast video player, but I can't transfer them back to my Tivo so I can watch them on the big screen.

Is this intentional, or just an omission? Do Roxio/Tivo plan on a software update that will amend this gap in functionality?

Is there an alternative to using Mac2Tivo to transfer .tivo files from Mac to Tivo? Is there any supported way to do this?

While Mac2TiVo does not do this, TiVo Desktop (free from TiVo) does. You need to know the "trick" to expose the hidden videos tab. Go to System Preferences (assuming you've installed TiVo Desktop for Mac OSX) and hold down the apple/command key on the keyboard and open the TiVo Desktop preference pane. You should now see a Videos tab where you can enter the directory for .tivo (or MPEG-2) files along with your Media Access Key

I've got a new Mac which is running Snow Leopard. After a couple of false starts, I'm finally able to use the Tivo Transfer feature in Toast. I find, however, that the transfer rate is extremely slow. I have a Tivo HD, the programs I've transferred have been HD programs, I am running an Airport wireless connection on the Mac and for a 1 hour HD program the transfer time seems to be (approximately) 3 hours. Is this unusual, or is this what I should expect? Also, once the programs have been transferred, how do I move them to my iPhone? Is there some type of configuration I need to do? Sorry, but I'm very new to this. Any guidance you can provide is appreciated.

I don't yet have my TiVo so I can't comment on the transfer time. To transfer the video to the iPhone you need to add the videos in the convert window, edit as needed, and click the red button. The window that appears lets you select what you want for output. If you're going to do much of this I recommend getting El Gato's TurboHD to speed up the conversion to iPhone.
I'm just a fellow Toast-user so please don't blame Roxio for any misguidance I may provide. And do let me know if your issue gets solved. Cheers from Eugene, Oregon!
