I just attampted to install Creator 2010 Pro. On my first attempt I didn't disable all in the configuration startup.
After disabling all and restarting I attemped again. This time I got a message that ms Installer is installing another program and it aborted the installation. I have rebooted and still no luck. Now I cannot install or unistall anything, I get the same message that Installer is installing another program. I tried to run the Windows installed cleanup but it won't install for the same reasons.

Any suggestions on getting installer working again so that I can install Creator???

Disable All? There is no option to disable anything in the Roxio 2010 installer.

The "Disable all" was refering to the windows start up menu. It was recommended that this be done in the Creator install instructions

So basically you did a hard reboot during installation which means it did not rollback?

Open up Task Manager and kill the process setup.exe or msiexec.exe

I did that and it only allowed the installation process to go a little further. Once the Microsoft application (don't recall what it was) started to install the same problem happened. It said that another application was being installed and the install was terminated. Whatever has happened, I can no longer install or uninstall anything on my computer. Anything that uses msiexec.exe fails even the Windows Intaller Cleanup tool won't install.

You might have disabled something that you shouldn't have in the configuration. Turn it back on and try again.

I have tried with msiexec.exe running and not running. It makes no difference. I ended the msiexec.exe, was able to install Windows Installer Cleanup and removed all Roxio applications. Still the same problem - It says that another application is currently being installed and won't allow me to complete the installation.

Check that you don't have any Roxio services trying to run. You can uncheck them from Services tab in msconfig.
To stop the services you'll need to go into Computer Management.

I have done both and the installation process stops at the same point (installing ms .net Framework). I am being told that there is another installation taking place. I cannot install or uninstall anything that uses msiexec.exe
My guess is that somehow the installation of Creator has corrupted the msiexec file...any suggestions?

If msiexec.exe is corrupted you can run a repair of Windows with the Operating System disc on boot up.

Success!!!
I noticed that during Windows update, 2 updates failed. One was ms .net Framework which was trying to install during the installation of Creator.

I ended the process msiexec.exe, ran the updates successfully, disabled all startup processes in msconfig, rebooted, again ended process msiexec and installed Creator.

Great! Yeah Windows Update running at the same time can be an issue sometimes. We usually disable it during installation smile.gif
