I used slideshow assistant to create a slideshow, went to videowave to edit and add transitions Went to MyDVD to burn.  When in MyDVD it makes me have a menu title page.  This is the 4th time I have burned the DVD and all I can see when I play back is the menu page.  It will not progress to the slideshow.  The files have burned (I think) correctly on the disc.  When I hit explore it lists RoxioPlasma and Video TS files.  I know the info is on the disc.  When I put it in my DVD player if I hit play I get only the menu.  Hit OK and will progress to the slideshow.  I cannot make it go past the menu on my computer and my sister (who the disc is for) does not have the same remote setup that I have and am afraid I will get to Atlanta and can't get the DVD to play.

I would actually like to burn the DVD without the menu page - just go straight to the slideshow.

This is driving me nuts! Any help appreciated.  I know it's probably something simple.

Running XP SP 3 on a Dell Dimension 8400.  Using Sony DVDRW which have worked successfully in the past.

First of all you should have started with Videowave to create the slideshow. Avoid the Wizards like the Slideshow Assistant, they are dumbed down programs with many features missing.

Since you are able to get to Videowave, can you you save the project from there as a dmsm project file using "File/Save project as" ? If yes, then do so and then exit Videowave. Launch myDVD and then select the option to create a DVD, no menus: File/New Project/DVD, no menus. THe using Add New Movie, navigate to where the dmsm project file was stored and select to add to the myDVD project. Now burn and the DVD should be created with no menu.

You can test with RW DVDs. For the finall burn be use to use a DVD that will also play on your sisters DVD player.

BTW. there is nothing wrong with the DVD you created. As Larry has posted that is how all DVDs with menus behave and your sister should have no problem playing it. The only thing is that your sister might not be able to play RW DVDs.

That sounds like normal behavior for a Video-DVD. Thnik about how a dvd works that buy. Same principle applies here.

Players usually will load the disc and take you to the main menu with the movie highlighted. Pressing the button on the remote (in your case the OK button) that 'activates' the selected item then plays it. Sounds like that's what's happening in your case.

The only thing that could be different is if you added chapters to your movie and chose to make chapter menus, it will go to that menu where you select the chapter to start from.

As was suggested, if you don't want a menu, then use the DVD-No Menu option in MyDVD. Keep in mind, making that kind of disc, the movie will repeat it self automatically until you stop it.

smile.gif   Thanks for your help!  I now understand about the menu working just like on a DVD I rent.  All the info is on the disc.  I can play it in my computer and on my DVD player.  Now I am going to go back and tinker with it in VideoWave and see what more fun effects I can add.  I really appreciate your taking the time to reply and the info you gave me.  I knew I could get the answers I needed here.  Thanks again.
