Hi,

I've followed the "clean install for creator 09 for Win XP" and the "installation of Creator 09 is interrupted and can't be completed" instructions and am still coming up empty. The install hangs on the "Directx" everytime.

I have:
copied the install disc to my hard drive and attempted to install from there.
Disabled antivirus
Disabled startup
Rolled back my DirectX to the original version since I already had 9 installed from another application.
Updated all the drivers I could find / think of to the most recent version.

My computer:
MS XP home edition SP3
Compaq presario 2.67 Ghz, 1.5 RAM
Intel82845G/GL/GE/PE/GV Graphics Controller

Let me know if I missed any other information you may need. Ideas are certainly welcome, I've wasted at least 10 hours of my life trying to get this to install.

What driver version do you have installed for the graphics controller? Has it been updated?

I did update the driver, currently using version 6.14.10.4342 and windows update indicates this is the most recent version available.

Windows Update would have no clue if the drivers you have, are the most current. Go to Intel's site and look.

Those drivers should be fine - I have the same graphics controller in my desktop and the same drivers. Everything works fine except as long as I run in software render mode. I believe that the OP has a problem with the DirectX

Yes, thanks for catching my error. Intel indicates my driver is up to date.

How would I know if I was having a problem with DirectX? The only reason I rolled back my current version is because this was where the install kept hanging and I had tried everything else.

Would it make a difference if I already have dvd / music editing software on the same computer? (just reaching).
