FYI: Creator 2010 installation on Vista 64 with Zone Alarm Security Suite v8
After several days of failed installations and digging through forums such as this one, I finally did get the download version of Creator 2010 and the Content to install. I disconnected my computer from the Internet, turned off Zone Alarm, and then ran the installation. Until I turned off Zone Alarm, the installation would make it the the Video Capture USB, fail, and then rollback the installation. There were no messages from Zone Alarm or Windows. Looking through the event logs, I did find Informational messages like this one.
Event ID: 11708 Product: Roxio Video Capture USB -- Installation operation failed.
With Zone Alarm off, the installation worked without any problems, and with Zone Alarm back on, the program also works.
My system is running Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 with all Windows Updates applied and all Zone Alarm Security Suite v8 updates applied. Other versions of Creator and Zone Alarm may experience the same problem.

Rule number 1 in installing any new program (and it actually tells you to do it) is stop all running apps (and it does mean ALL and that includes anti-virus, s/w firewall, etc
If it ain't broke, fiddle with it until it breaks, then fiddle with it until you get it fixed

Guy,
Thanks for posting that. People need to be reminded of that frequently!

Regardless of what I say about computer maintenance, there is no need to defrag a solid state hard drive.
