I have used emc8 MYDVD to create a movie and would like to add background music (which would be overridden by any sound emanating from the video's sound track).  Adding the music is no problem but when I want to edit the music track all I can get is "audio trimming" no options for fades and no options to set the video sound track as primary.  Should I have made this video in Videowave?  If so, why does EMC 8 send me to MyDVD when I say that I want to create a DVD?  EMC was sooooo easy compared to this version!!  Any help or insights would be appreciated.  Thanks.

I don't know why it sends you to MyDVD, but ALL productions should be made in VideoWave, unless you are just burning a captured video without doing any editing.

I don't have EMC 8 on this computer, but I think that the feature that you want may be available only in EMC 8 Deluxe.

The video's sound track is the primary track, so to speak.

I assume you mean EMC Home app?  Well, to 'create' a DVD, you do use MyDVD.

Videowave is for editing video where you can cut parts out. Add transitions, effects, overlays, text credits, additional sound tracks, etc.

MyDVD is for creating the DVD, menus, chapters and the final output to disc or hard drive.

Audio trimming is all that is available in the Essentials and Standard version. The Deluxe version includes a audio editor within Videowave. If the music is in a separate file (MP3/WAV), you can edit the audio file in Sound Editor before using it in Videowave.

Thanks for the input; without this forum (& others), I would give up on my video aspirations!  But, one more question - I keep hearing about this "deluxe" version of EMC8 and I have checked periodically for the upgrade for the EMC8.05 that I have now.  All I find is the full version that costs a bundle.  I do know that there was a press release several months ago saying that a "software only" upgrade would be available for existing users in April for $20.  Do you know what might have happened to this upgrade?  Thanks.

I have not seen the offer, posted yet, but hopefully it will be available soon.
