First some background : Roxio Creator 9 v9.0.088, Windows XP, older Dell desktop w/2 CD drives .

The goal : Create a CD with selected songs from several purchased CDs.

I'm a newbie and have a 700mb CD-RW disc. - assuming it's doable (i.e. in keeping with copyright laws) I'd like to get step by step instructions on creating this CD - thanks in advance.

Well, we should clarify whether you have Easy Media Creator 9, or Creator 2009, there is no "Creator 9", and the version you list makes it look more like EMC 9 than Creator 2009.

I'll give you some generic steps since I don't have EMC 9 here in front of me. You'll want to rip the tracks from your original CDs to your hard drive first. As I recall with EMC 9, there were several ways to do that, using Sound Editor, or the Home application, or even Disc & Drive Utilities. So, create a folder to rip the tracks you want to .WAV files. (Don't store them as .MP3 files since you're going to be creating an Audio CD.)

Once you have all the tracks on your hard drive, you can select the Music Disc option, add your tracks, and write your compilation CD.

Now, you say you have a CD-RW disc, which is fine, but not all players will read CD-RW (erasable) discs, so you may want to switch to a CD-R (write once) disc.

Hope that helps you get started.

(Apparently someone agreed with me and move your post to the EMC 9 forum.)

Yes, the version which calls itself "Roxio Creator 9" [see below] version 9.0.088 is actually EMC 9.0 Suite. smile.gif
