I'm very confused about why this is happening when I try to capture audio. I am using a 64-bit HP laptop with Windows Vista. I am also using Creator 2009 with the Roxio provided composite USB connector cable. If I try to capture video from a DVD player or camera, I can see the video and hear the audio as it captures just fine. As soon as I move over to the audio capture screen (either using the "Digitizing LPs and Tapes" or the "Capture Audio From Sound Card" options, and select the input option for "Line (USB 2861 Device)," the left and right input meters do not budge and there is obviously no sound being recognized at the input. So remembering that I said the sound comes through just fine during video capture, it is obviously not the Roxio provided cables, my own RCA cables, the sound card, or the USB ports. I have also used various audio output devices, all with the same results, so it is not the audio device. I even tried to "fool" the software by hooking up a video output from a DVD player, while hooking up the audio to the audio device. I started playing the material from the audio device and did a video capture, and sure enough it recognized the audio input and even captured it when I did a video capture.
Additionally, I've made sure that all the latest 64-bit Windows Vista updates have been installed. At the suggestion of HP (who guaranteed this would fix the problem), I have installed the latest HP BIOS. I have all the SP4 Roxio Creator 2009 updates installed. There are no other updates that I know of that I can install. So I seem to have narrowed this down to some issue with the Roxio Creator 2009 application. I am at my wit's end to get this supposedly simple task working. Does anyone have any recommendations? Thanks much.
