Hi. I installed Roxio 2009 a few months ago and all worked OK. I have not used it for a few weeks and on attempting to open I received the following error message.

RoxioCentralFx.exe: Configuration parser error.
Error parsing C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\framework\v2.0.50727\confog\machine.config
Parser returned error 0xC00CE556.
Then, Roxio has encountered an error and needs to close.

On the report error box and selecting the error details I get,
Event Type: clr20r3
P1: roxiocentralfx.exe
P2: 4.12.0.0
P3: 48a05348
P4: presentationframework
P5: 3.0.0.0
P6: 488f142e
P7: 6259
P8: el
P9: system.windows.markup.xamlparse

I'm afraid all the above is meaningless to me as I am quite a novice. If I open the applications from the All Program and Roxio folder, most of them will work. All except Cineplayer. I have tried a clean install as laid out in the forum link but no success. I would be most obliged if anyone can shed some light on the problem. As I say, it did work OK.

Many thanks for reply. I had not heard of sp4 so had not installed it. Have now downloaded and installed it but with no luck. Still have the same problem.

Many thanks Big_Dave for reply.

My PC specs are,

Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 2
AMD Athlon 64 Processor 3800+, MMX, 3DNow, 2.4 GHz
Memory: 1GB RAM.
Pheonix - Award BIOS v6.00PG
NVIDIA GeForce 6600, 120MB Memory.

I have done as you suggest and performed a new clean intall as per link instructions. Then downloaded and installed sp4 straight after. However I still get the above error message. Prior to this Roxio 2009 version, I was using Roxio EMC 9. I re-installed this after the 2009 failure and it works OK. I uninstalled EMC 9 and again performed another clean installation for 2009/sp4. Again no success. As I said before it had worked OK. I have not installed any other software that I know of since the "working 2009".

When was the last time you ran Windows update?  Why have you not install sp3 for XP?

I am up to date with Windows updates, except for sp3. On trying to do it I reached a point in the installation of an "Access Denied", and the installation failed and rolled back. The answer to the problem on the Microsoft website was, for me, too complicated to follow. As every thing seemed ok, (including Roxio 2009),I have not proceeded with it since. Also at that time I was going to upgrade my computer to a new one with Vista. However that has subsequently fallen through. However I do do regular full backups with Acronis and will now re-install to the last known working 2009. Perhaps I could have done this in the first place but I was hoping there was an easier option with solving the 2009 problem. I realise the problem may occur again sometime but this time I'll keep more of an eye on what I am doing that may affect it. Again many thanks for troubling to reply.

If you are having problems even installing XP SP3, there's something fundamentally wrong in your Operating System and it may be time to consider a clean re-install of everything (after backing up all your data of course)

You could try going back to your earliest image first but if even that fails, it's time to wipe and reinstall from scratch
If it ain't broke, fiddle with it until it breaks, then fiddle with it until you get it fixed
