Created slide show, then edited and saved in Videowave. Added mp3 music to music track. Played the production in Videowave. Worked fine, including audio. Output result as mpg, normal quality. I get no sound. Tried “Normalize audio” – same result. Have done similar things in the past with no problems.
Any ideas?
Thanks.

Add the ‘new mpg’ into VideoWave.

Does it have Audio?

If not, right click the clip and select Edit – Native Audio. Does it look like a waveform or flatline?  biggrin.gif

Thanks for your reply.
I think, for what follows, some Titles/names might make things easier.
So let call the original Videowave production P1, and the mpeg-2 movie, created from P1, by the name M1. M1 does not have sound (but P1 does).
I created a new Videowave production, P2. It has only one frame. That frame contains the movie M1. I ran P2 and the audio come through OK. I checked Native Audio and saw a nice waveform and it played nicely in the Audio Editor. So I created a new movie, M2, from P2, using the same options as earlier: DVD playback, mpeg-2/normal quality.
When I played M2: no sound.
Any other ideas?
Thanks.

I already understood that but what you never said before was that it had no audio on the burned DVD! All you said before was you output an mpeg and it had no audio…

Clearly it does have audio because you said it is there if you pull that mpeg back into VW.

So the problem is the burn. Did you test the DVD on more than one player and try running it on your PC with CinePlayer? (if any of them play audio it is a Player problem)

Sorry about any confusion.
I did not burn the movie to a DVD because when I previewed the movie with a mpeg player there was no video and I plan to burn several movies to a DVD. I want the movies working before I spend the time burning them. However . . .
As per your suggestion, I tried playing the original movie with CinePlayer and it worked fine - audio included. So something has recently happened to the program I had been using to play mpegs. I will now try to burn a couple of movies - including the one that began all of this - to a DVD and see what happens.
The thought that the movie player was the culprit never occured to me because I have used it with no problems for quite some time. Thanks.

Slideshow with no audio?  Just to give you a head's up, remember that you cannot use music you got from ITunes and/or other on-line retailers on a burned DVD.  This should have no effect on audio that is on a video file on your computer.   This may save you some time if you are planning to use that music.  However you can use any music that you rip from a CD to a folder on your computer in a slide show.

Not all mp3 files are alike.  Open Sound Editor (Edit Audio) or  "Batch Convert and Transfer" to change the audio from mp3 to wav.  This has helped in some cases.
Regardless of what I say about computer maintenance, there is no need to defrag a solid state hard drive.

Probably a good idea to have a disc or 2 of DVD RW on hand for testing.

Keep us informed of your progress.

The name of the player is VLC. I have used it for more than a year with no problems - until now.
