I went through the" trial has expired" message fixed it with a clean un-install, then it took away my Cd/Dvd drive--fixed that, and now have re-installed the program and there are no desk top icons besides the drag to disk which says "no recorder", I have gone into all programs and found the "easy Cd\Dvd program, but when I click on it the hour glass shows for a minute like it's loading ,but nothing at all happens.I actually performed the clean un-install twice with all the directions from the tech support.I really enjoy the program when it works but I feel I have had to work on it more than get to use it.Can anyone help me pleeeeeeease!

I was wondering why this software came with two disks- 1 the red disk (Easy Cd& Dvd burning) then 2 a black n white disk Roxio Creator 9.0 DE. They both say to install this disk, but after you install opne then try to do the other it says you must un-install the first one in order for the second one to work or install. What the Heck is this?Is there any difference betweeen the two? Mind boggling-- crazy!

It is indeed mind boggling. Roxio Creator DE is actually a OEM version a.k.a Dell Edition. Just wondering where was this box product purchased from?

Just install the "red disc" one as that has more features than the OEM Dell one (they are cut back/bits missing version's made for Dell). There is no reason to install both.

You may have to do the clean install again  http://kb.roxio.com/search.aspx?URL=/conte...6CR&PARAMS=

Thank you, I'm still working on it and apparently you know more about this product than the company! This all started with the trial has expired message. I should have gone here first! I'll get back to you on how it goes!

The trial is expired was a result of having regcleaners automatically deleting some of registry value for the product. This can happen again if you still have any such product installed and set to delete anything without your consent. You might want to take a look at it when you have successfully installed the product to avoid of re-occurring of the issue

The ‘Trial Expired’ message is caused by an overzealous Reg Cleaner. Brendon pinned a posting for the problem and fix, 2 years ago.

OEM versions cannot legally be sold. If they accompany a piece of hardware OK but all support comes from the OEM provider.

FYI

The "red box" version is also a cut-down version from Roxio, but if you were happy with the product before this problem then go ahead with the clean install,

Check this great post from Brendon on the issue. Try the "repairer" file and see if that helps.

I was able to locate another version of "repairer", give it a shot. For the heck of it, also try "Patchapp"

I will, because I did the clean install crap again and still no icon and no program! It all shows in the add/remove program list though. If this doesn't work I'm thinking about doing a restore back to before all this was done, then just deal with the trial has expired thing. It will be awhile though because I now have to go to work for the entire weekend, I'll log in again on Monday or so.Thank you!

Well the best option is to do following things once the product is functional

1. Back up the registry value for the product mentioned in Brendon's post.
2. Temp Disable any registry cleaners that you might have installed or change the settings to ignore any registry issues.

I have tried everything, I even tried to restore to an earlier time and my computer can't do it.Did something go wrong maybe with the clean install thing? I really don't know what more to do that will get this program up and running properly, I have it on my other computers and it's working great, but the troubled one contains all of my family pics and videos otherwise I would'nt mess with it anymore. Also when I did the registry backup then went back and tried to use it, the thing said not all registry was completed or something, so it would not work, what now?
