Hey all!
There's been talk of this on the 2009 forum and I'm afraid I've experienced it first hand. In a 30min production there may be 10 or so "blank" spots, never lasting more than 3sec but they're sure annoying. I'm using TDK -R DVDs. Sony DVDs same results.
A few have said they changed to Nero software and that the problem was history. I'd prefer not to do that, I love Rox interface.
I just wondered if anyone's had this problem using 2010...?
Tkx!

I'm going to take a guess. You are burning your productions directly to a disc. Since we don't have any information on what you might have as a computer, I'm going to guess that it cannot keep up with the virus checking, encoding and the burning at the same time.
Turn off your anti-virus or disable it so that it is not scanning files being written to your computer. That is probably part of the problem. When you go to burn from Create DVD-Advanced, chose to burn to an image file (ISO). After that encodes, you can copy the ISO file to the disc using Video Copy and Convert or Creator Classic.
Hints:
You can create a virtual drive with Creator 2010 and load the ISO file into it and play it on your computer to see if the skips are still there or you can burn (copy) the ISO to good quality DVD RW discs so you can use it again. The ISO file can be use to make any number of duplicate discs.
TDK are OK; frequent users will use Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden (purchase on line - the best)

To clarify the problem - Sound 'blank' spots, as in all normal then a few seconds of total silence, then back up to normal sound.
I'm going to guess it's the Samsumg player I've been using. Created another DVD, this time shutting down all antivirus programs. Same results on the Samsung. Plays fine for awhile, then 2secs of silence, then all's well.
I then tried on all my cmptrs, all perfect. I never have sound skips while playing in any Roxio software, be it the player itself or Edit Video - Advanced. No sound skips in any cmptr player for that matter (Windows Media ect). Finally I put the disk in another player (far older than the Samsung). Perfect. No sound errors. I must admit... for reasons beyond this I wish I'd not purchased as much Samsung gear as I have. No matter.
LAPTOP (this is what I've been using):
Insp1520
2ghz cpu
2g ram
Optiarc DVD+-RW AD-5560A
MAIN Cmptr (I'll use this from now on):
XPS710
Intel Core Quad CPU 2.66
4g RAM
TSST DVD+-RW TS-H553A
I'll keep playing. I'm burning on the MAIN now and will try it in the Samsung, we'll see. Next project is to try to get this Sony HDR-XR200 HD camera's awesome HD movies, to play HD on a DVD. Another subject for another forum. Tkx for all the help!!

Since the disc plays fine on the computer and the older DVD player, I would say there is nothign wrong with the disc. Has to be the Samsung player. Most likely not enough buffer memory.
Just so you know. AVCHD on DVD is burned in Bluray format so the disc will not play back in any DVD player. The disc should play back fine in Cineplayer on Vista. WinXP does not support the format.

Other people with Samsung players have reported trouble in the past with audio drop out. The fix was to change the audio setting in the MyDVD project settings from AC3 to LPCM. May be the same fix in 2010.

You are correct. Had I seen this post, I would have suggested the same thing, as soon as I saw Samsung player mentioned.
Life is good!
