I currently have Roxio Creator DE version 9 installed, am I eligible for the upgrade to 2010? Also I have a movie made using Windows movie maker that is saved as an .avi file. Can I upload this file to 2010 and just burn a DVD or does the movie have to be created using Creator 2010? Thanks

No, you do not have a full retail version of the software; you have an OEM castrated, teaser version modified to Dell's specs. No upgrade is possible.

You can load a compliant AVI file into Creator 2009 and burn it to disc. If you made that video file in W MM; it is probably compliant. If you want to play the DVD on a DVD player connected to a TV, it must be rendered to an mpg2 file to be compliant with the DVD player requirements.

Make sure your computer exceeds the minimum requirements for the full version.

Wow, thanks for informing me, that's good to know. So I need the full blown version. I found it on the Roxio site with an instant rebate of $30 for the download. Not a bad price. Thanks again.

Also, about the avi file. I select the NTSC option in Win Movie Maker and it saves it as a avi file. Are you saying this is the wrong formate for burning to a DVD for playback on a DVD connected to a TV?

Yes, I'm happy with it and use it more than the other video editing programs I have on my computer. A lot of people who do a lot of video editing have more than one program. (I even have Toast and Final Cut Express on my MAC I have been using a Roxio product since Easy Media Creator 7.0; others have been here a lot longer.

You must have a pretty good computer to run it properly and you must follow the procedures for preparing your computer to get a hassle free install.

If you do get a Roxio product, and want to come back here often, please put your computer specs into your signature via the My Controls link at the top of the page. It really helps the responder.

Most complain it's limited for what they want to do.

If you've ever had a full Roxio Retail Suite, I doubt you would be happy with the free Dell version..

The OP doesn't have a qualifying Roxio Product for the "upgrade".

Do you mean he can use a 10-15% coupon on top of what Roxio is offering on their website?

It's true, I can confirm. I did find a 15% coupon that was applied on top of the instant rebate. Here's a twist. I was able to find a sale price of $69.99 for the full version on the Roxio site. Don't ask me how I was able to do that. In my cart it said (Sale) next to the item description. I saw that the upgrade price was $69.99 because I had that in my cart inititally (and it said Upgrade) until I was told in this forum that because I had OEM Roxio I was not eligible. Again I don't know how I was able to get that price but with the discount it came to $60. Problem is I did not get a download link in my confirmation email so now I am waiting for customer support to straighten this situation out. It's always something.

My downloads arrived. It appears there are two files combined that are about 1 gig each in size. How can I backup a copy of each of this on a disc for safe keeping? It clearly won't fit on a normal CD-ROM. I appreciate your assistance.
