Well here I am again with another question. I have compiled an hour and 13 minute video of several AVI and MPEG videos from my sister's vacation. When I went to burn the dvd in MyDVD, I tried several different preset defaults, and I am still having the same problem with wavy video. I even went to Video Wave and exported the video as an MPEG-2 for DVD - Best Quality video file and the video is still wavy. What I don't understand is that the original AVI file is not wavy. I am trying burn a dual layer +R DVD so my sister can watch it on her dvd player.  I have also tried creating ISO files and they all show a wavy video. I thought the best ISO created was the one that set on the HQ preset in MyDVD. That ISO file seemed to play okay on my computer, however, it did not burn okay. It burned with the video being wavy.

I have posted two examples on youtube and have posted the links where the original avi file is and the mpeg-2 video is (each clip is about 55 seconds long) to show you what I am experiencing. Any help you can give would greatly be appreciated.

Self Portrait?

I noticed distortion in the vertical window/door frames around the 45-50 second mark in the MPEG2 Video clip.

Don’t see anything about our video card but I believe if you try it on Software Render it will go away. Test that – Tools – Options – Render, Software.

If that fixes it, you can try updating your video card drivers.

Jim,

I can't thank you enough for taking the time to answer this problem. I tried your suggestion and it worked smile.gif  My sister and I spent over 10 hours trimming down over 7 hours of video to one hour and 13 minutes. Just to think we would not be able to burn a clean copy of the video after all that time - I would be so disappointed.

Regarding updating my video driver - I have updated to Vista Service Pack 2 and the updated driver available is listed for Vista Service Pack 1 - I don't want to take a chance that the download may cause havoc on my laptop.

I am really glad that software rendering took care of the problem. Thank you so much for helping me with this matter.

I understand your reluctance with the update.

The only disadvantage with Software render is that you lose 3D transitions and in some cases there is an advantage in render time. – I have one timed test that showed software at 5 hours and hardware at 4:20.

For 40 minutes? I can live with software if the product is clear and sharp!

Jim,

I agree. I can live with the burning process taking an extra 40 minutes. Thanks for advising me that the 3D transitions won't render in "software render" mode. I will have to live with that until (or if) I purchase a new computer.

Thanks, again, for all the help.
