I have a Dell Dimension 3100 and when I get ready to burn a movie onto a dvd+r disk, it keeps asking me to insert a disk.  I insert it and it ejects it and prompts me again.  What do I do?  Please don't get too technical, laymens terms please.

Well it is technical…

You will have to find the make/model of your Burner and find an updated driver for it.

right-click on 'MyComputer' > properties > hardware > device manager > (click on + by) DVD/CD-ROM drives icon > copy the id string exactly, character for character, upper or lower case EXACTLY.

According to the DELL specs for the Dimension 3100
http://www.dell.com/us/en/dfb/desktops/dim...cs=28&s=dfb
you may have a CD-RW, a DVD-ROM, or a Combo drive - or a DVD burner.  Only the last is capable of burning DVDs, and it may be old enough that it will only use dash OR plus media but not both.

That is why it is important to get the id string.

My DVD drive type is HL-DT-ST DVD+-RW GSA-H21N. Does this help? Please let me know.

What brand of DVDs are you using? Have you tried using a different brand type? Do also confirm if you have the latest firmware for the drive.
