Xbox file formats

What formats can I convert an .mpg from my camcorder so that I can view it on my XBOX360? I tried MPEG4 and WMV. But only WMV seems to work. The raw .mpg from my Panasonic camcorder didn't work.
I used Roxio Creator 2010 to do a "Convert video" to create a WMV. Aren't there better formats that would play on the XBOX with better quality?
I have a media server (NAS box) that I can copy files to which is viewabel on the XBOX360.
Thanks in advance,
Steve

Thanks for the reply. Last night at home, I tried several formats but only .wmv worked. When I selected H.264 or MPG4, the XBOX360 didn't play them. Perhaps there are other settings I need to change in Roxio besides just the pull-down that selects MPEG4. I'll look tonight at what I have set for the audio settings.
As for Roxio, I went into the section that does Video Convert where you get a choice of many types of devices such as Xbox, Zune, Ipod, etc. I first tried the XBOX selection, then tried the Video selection.
Has anyone used this to create files to play on XBOX360?
Thanks again,
Steve

Windows Home Server to Xbox Dashboard Video Player only WMV and AVI are supported.
Have you tried DivX with AVI extension?

I don't see where I can select AVI in Roxio Creator 2010. The only choices I have are: MPEG2, MPEG4, WMV, and H264.
I also don't see where I can choose a specific extension.
I start out by selecting "Copy and Convert Video". Then I choose a file (from my Camcorder) that I want to convert, by "Add Source/Movies". I then click on "Custom". I then click on Output source "Video", where the compression choices are MPEG4, MPEG2, WMV, and H264.
Any tips? What am I doing wrong or can't Roxio handle divx or avi?
Thanks,
Steve

Thanks for the pointer.
I tried that, but I still have issues. It seems my XBOX360 can't play anything except .wmv files. When I created an avi file and tried to play it, XBOX said it needed to download an update in order to play that format. When I did so and then tried t play it, it said invalid format. I'm missing something somewhere perhaps.
Thanks,
Steve

They're pretty specific about bit rates, both audio and video.
