I spent hours working on my video! Now I can't open it. It says the files are not in the last known location. I was told to uninstall and reinstall. They gave me directions to do a clean uninstall. I fallowed the directions. I thought the issue was fixed. I started another project. Spent hours again! Now the videos are lost...again! Very frusterating! Please help!

1) What is the full name and version of the software you are using?
2) Provide details of the steps you are doing and the name of the program you are using.
3) At what point in your steps does it say that error?
4) What is your operating system?

Roxio Creator 2009 is the name of the entire suite! Which app in the suite are you using? Videowave, MyDVD, something else? It sounds like it might be Videowave or MyDVD?

What is the exact text of the error or message you get regarding the files?

When you started your project, and added your source file(s) to it (pictures and/or videos?), where were the source files located? On a removable disc? On an internal or external Hard drive?

It says Cannot Find Require Files
Then in gives an option of what to do such as:

My source's are from my video camera or F drive???

You should first copy the video from your camera to your hard drive.
It seems that initially you had your camera connected (as F: drive) to your PC and the source for the files was that F: drive. The next time you started VW it would of course not fine those files unless you had your camera again connected. VW always expects to be able to "connect" to the source files in their original location. Removing the camera will cause "a missing files" error

Will it find the files if I reconnect the source?

It should but that is not the way to do it. Why don't you try it?

Well, based on your sketchy description, it's still not real clear where the file(s) were when you added them to the project.

It sounds like you somehow added them to your project directly from your camera, which was connected to your pc at the time, which was being recognized by your OS as an external drive that it assigned the drive letter F to. If that's the case, reconnect your camera and see if the project will open and recognize the source file(s).

FYI, a saved Videowave project file contains no video or any other source material. It only contains instructions about how you want the project to be output. So when it comes to the source file(s) you are using in the project, it just has notes about where those source files are. If they have been moved, deleted, or on an external device that is no longer connected, it can't find them.

It is a common mistake by first time users, including me.  One would think that the files are embedded into the production, but they aren't, for obvious reasons.

You would have duplicate files, on your computer, thus taking up a lot of room on your hard drives.  Even with todays huge hard drives, it would not be a good idea to embed the files, especially, if you do a lot of productions.
Life is good!
