How to write to Rewriteabe CD/DVD from other apps

I updated from Roxio 10 because for some reason I could not write to CD's or Dvd's from any of my apps. My laptop which has Roxio 9 on it has not problem doing this at all. The CD's and DVD's look just like another drive. I want to be able to unzip a file right to a DVD and create directories etc. Am I missing something here or do I need to go back to Roxio 9. I seem to have lost functionalty here.

Correct, packet writing (Drag to Disc) was removed. However with Creator 2010, we now have Roxio Burn which uses a more reliable form of burning. But I don't think this feature is available within other applications.
