AVCHD Archive and Windows 7

I opened a ticket with Tech Support, but they have done nothing but give me the run-around, 1st claiming that they didn't support Windows 7, then claiming that my camera is not supported.
Has anyone been able to make this combination work? I've tried setting compatibility mode on the AVCHDArchive12.exe but it still crashes.
Thanks,
Horsie

What type of camera do you have? Are you trying to transfer the files from the camera, or via the SDHC card and a usb card reader?

JVC GZ-HM200RU.
Tried connecting the camera via USB - fail.
Tried using my PC's built-in SDHC card-reader - fail.
Each time I get the same crash and the same Windows Event Log (Application) error I posted previously.

I tired it in Vista as well as XP.
Do any other programs in the Suite crash? Any other unexpected behavior from the Suite
I honestly do not understand how it is supposed to work The only files I was able to get it to see were from a Blu-ray Folder set I created in MyDVD 2009.
If I moved one of the m2ts files somewhere else, it would not recognize the file!
It does recognize my camcorder Memory Stick both in the Sony as well as in my card reader but since my Sony records in MP4 it doesn’t see the files…
But yours should not be crashing and that is where I think we should start looking!
What version of MS Office are you running???

Also, just an FYI, the box that is failing doesn't fail upon just opening the AVCHD Archive app, but only after it is open and a camera is connected or card (with AVCHD content) is inserted into the reader.

Goes back to what I suggested… Bad install.

2.Install the latest video card drivers. - Check
3.Update Microsoft DirectX. - Check
4.Update to the latest version of Windows Media Player - Check
5.Update your audio drivers - Check
6.Update your burner's firmware - Check
7.Turn off your anti-virus software during install - Check
8.Be sure to turn off any other background processes that may interfere with installation. - Check
Further to the point...
Uninstall RC 2010 - Check
Reboot - Check
Disable every service and startup item possible in MSCONFIG - Check
Delete every reference to existing Sonic and Roxio files installed in previous attempts - Check
Reboot - Check
Install RC 2010 - Check
Reboot - Check
Have AVCHD Archive blowup on execution - Check
Or...maybe not.
--------------------------------------------
EDIT SOME HOURS LATER...
Note that subsequent to this failed attempt, I discovered the “Clean Install” document and, minor inaccuracies (due to the fact that the 2009 document was simply renamed 2009 AND 2010) aside, I performed said steps in yet another re-installation of the 2010 product.
This, unfortunately, resulted in no improvement in the AVCHD Archive operation.
In order to provide a quick sanity-check, I put the heretofore previously never installed JVC AVCHD archival application on this system to test the basic functionality of the camera and writing directly to discs. Happy to report that JVC’s implementation appears to work properly, and without any tedious uninstall/reinstall effort either.
The only key difference between the two identical machines (one works with RC 2010 AVCHD Archive, and one doesn’t) is that MS Office Professional 2007 is present on the one that doesn’t work. All other installations (Antivirus, audio, video, everything) are precisely the same version and build numbers. At this point, however, since Office is a critical item on my work-machine I will not be removing it in order to determine if that is the root-cause of the incompatibility. Nor will I be spending any more time than the 15+ hours I’ve already allotted to this issue.
From what I’m able to tell so far most other aspects of RC 2010 appear to work and, now that the JVC AVCHD archival process is in place, I will just ignore Roxio’s malfunctioning version of that application.
Apologies to the OP for usurping the thread, and best wishes in your efforts to resolve this issue on your machine.

It has been identified in another programs as problem. Would not be the first time MS Office has wrecked other programs
If Horsie also has Office 2007 then we have something to report to Roxio.

Thank you – I have turned it in as a probable suspect
Knowing helps… but a Fix is even better
