I tried to uninstall EMC2009 and got lots and lots of errors. So, I tried to uninstall manually. Everything's gone except for the emulator.. How the heck do I remove the dvd drive that roxio created?!?

THEN.. When I try to reinstall, I get the "You must install Roxio emc 10 before installing the content". I tried the hotfix for that error and it didn't do ANYTHING.. I noticed that someone has a work-around, but, wouldn't post it.. Needless to say, I am VERY frustrated with this POS software. I can't remove it cleanly, I can't even reinstall it. WTF should I do?

I am so frustrated, it's amazing. I will **NEVER** purchase another Roxio product given the pathetic and completely useless support. The "Hotfix" doesn't !@#%ing work. I can't get rid of the dvd emulator. I can't reinstall the software. I am completely stuck. Why is this program such a piece of crap? I am livid with anger over this--I've never had a program that has so utterly and completely !@#%ed up my computer!

I'm sorry for being so angry right now, but, I really am livid. I have spent a few HOURS of my life dealing with this, and I still can't even get the #$^@ DVD-ROM emulator to go away!!!

I've removed .net 3.5 sp1, I've totally removed .net 2.0, I've scoured the registry deleting EVERYTHING related to roxio. I've followed the clean install directions...

I'm running Vista 64 Ultimate. I want this software OFF my computer! And, since I've paid good money for it, I want to be ABLE to install the software if I decide to.

Argh!!!!

So, in order..

1) How do I **MANUALLY** remove the DiscImageLoader DVD-ROM Emulator?
2) How do I **INSTALL** (successfully) Creator 2009. I'm getting the EMC10 error; and the hotfix does NOT work for me.

I hope you have calmed down after shooting yourself in the foot. The virtual drive should have been uninstalled first blink.gif

Try this or something similar depending on your OS

start computer management then disk management
right click on offending virtual drive
select properties
under driver tab select uninstall the driver
confirm uninstall

The only thing that seemed to work was putting it in SafeMode then removing and deleting the drivers. When I did as you suggested, the drive came back.

It's gone now; but, Roxio still won't reinstall.

So, how do I get past the request to install EMC10 first? I'm using DVD's to install it... THe hotfix does **NOT** work for me. It says it's a valid install and that there's nothing to clean up.

I've tried the patch--didn't work.

I've tried the clean install--didn't work.

I've tried everything I can think of, including fairly drastic registry cleaning, etc.. Nothing is working. There's got to be another work-around for this.. Anyone?

Running on Vista 64

Yes, I removed .net 3.5 SP1 and 2.0 SP2.

Yes.. I tried it. It said that it was a valid install. Next, I looked at the hex and saw the keys it removed. So, I manually deleted it. Re-ran the program just for fun... it then said it couldn't find the reg keys. Still had the same EMC10 error.

I just re-ran it again, and the patch actually said "Done".. Tried to reinstall *again* and it now complains that the install was interrupted. But, since I have no 3.5SP1 or 2.0SP2, I can only imaging what's causing the problems...

But, I've had it fail with that 'interrupted' thing before--even if I get past that, it STILL fails on EMC10.

I think I caught a glimpse of it rolling back on directx9....... Why is it that Nero 8 (released around the same time) installs cleanly without drama, while Roxio is being a dog?

Dude, who the hell do you think that you are fooling, coming back with a different name than before, and starting a new topic, with the same theme?

Did you disable, not just turn off your antivirus software?

List you system specs, similar to how I have them, in my signature.

Dude... The only way I could login was with this account. I have no idea what's going on with the forum, dude.

Antivirus was totally disabled--as in msconfig with NOTHING running other than microsoft services that are needed to start the OS, dude.

AMD Athlon x2, 8GB RAM, Nvidia 1GB video card GeForce 9800GT, 2TB HDD..

Vista x64 Ultimate SP2

I'm not a newbie. I'm MCSA, MCSE. I've been doing this professionally for about 13+ years. I think I can follow directions.

And, dude, don't call me dude again.

The last time I ran into a DR. with an IT background he couldn’t tell the difference between a hatchet and a scalpel. I am wondering if you used to work at HCMC.

So, the big issue I'm facing is how to get past this blasted EMC10 error. Any ideas short of reformatting my computer (which is not going to happen)?

Some have had to go thru the clean install process multiple times before being successful. You might try the install in safe mode after going thru a clean install.
