Unable to Output to DivX in RC 2010 Pro

I bought the upgrade version and installed it. In RC 2009, I had a choice of DivX formats. Here, I have none at all. Is this a deliberate omission? If it is, I shall demand a refund. Or is it a bug? Or is there something I need to do?

All help gratefully received.

It seems to have been removed deliberately. Many of us have complained about it. You can try to see if can get a refund if you bought the download version

No - let me ask why Roxio should have done this. DivX is an important format. I find it useful for archiving video and for making HD video compatible for others to play. Why has Roxio decided not to support it?

How do I contact Roxio? When I looked at the contact details, it was just a mass of pre-written answers to common questions.

The answer I've had from Roxio is:

Thank you for contacting Roxio Customer Care

Creator 2010 does output video to DivX. You can use VideoWave or SyncIt to export a file to DivX.

If the information provided does not resolve your issue simply update your webticket with a detailed
explanation with the steps you have tried and any error messages you receive.

Well, there is nothing in the output options of Videowave 2010 that mentions DivX. This is in my still unremoved copy of 2009. Have I done something stupid here?

Well they got us on the SyncIt! laugh.gif Edit: Well the laugh is on me! It is listed but doesn't work!!!

I looked again in VideoWave and still do not see any way to output in DivX there…

You have a ticket open – ask them how to do it in VideoWave and tell them the Gurus on the Forum can’t find it either laugh.gif

Regarding SynchIt!, even tho it's listed as an output option in Creator 2010, it does not work. It will error out with an unsupported format message. So there is no way in creator 2010 to output to Divx. Would be nice to see them change their stance on not including it and add it as part of an update.

I have the full version of Divx installed on my computer and nothing shows up in Videowave for me either. Why it's in Syncit, I don't know but nothing I tried works converting to divx. After a few seconds I get an unsupported file message. Converting to Windows Media and H.264 worked fine however so I'm guessing the fact it's still listed in the drop box is simply a bug.

Hi All,

DivX is not an option as an output format in Creator 2010.

Sean - please PM me the ticket you opened with us and I'll make sure we provide necessary coaching to the agent.

As far as the option in SyncIt, I thought that was an issue that we already addressed when both C2009 and C2010 are installed on the same computer. I'll look into again.

Thanks

Ivan

Why has DivX been dropped? This is definitely a popular feature and will cause mee to keep using C2009 or a version that has DivX. unsure.gif

Walt, strictly a guess on my part but it might be due to fees paid to Divx and the fact that H.264 (supposedly) is a better/more popular option. Again, I'm guessing here but since H.264 is better suited for BluRay and HD, and, as I can once again only assume that due to the popularity of these newer/better compression options, divx may be too costly. Of course, Divx has DivxHD now but I know very little about it too.

not sure. Based on my personal experience, I suspect it's because the increasing popularity of H.264 format and the quality it offers.

Sigh.

DivX is also increasing in popularity, and Sonic are chopping off a large proportion of their current and future user base by abandoning the format.

I see no reason to doubt that Roxio has dropped DivX from its range of output options. I wish this had been made plain. I even wish it had been made internally plain, so that the people I've been dealing with hadn't spent the better part of a day talking nonsense.

But I've been trying out H.264. It does give better size/quality results than DivX. That means I'll stay with RC 2010. However, I won't remove RC 2009 yet, as DivX does have compatibility advantages.
