I'm trying to make a DVD with videos I took on my digital camera ( Casio ex Z80) , and they are in the .MOV format. The videos load and play just fine in the preview etc, but there is NO audio at all. When I play these videos in quicktime and youtube, the sound is there as it should be. When I right click the video while i'm working on it and go to the Properties/Detail tab, here is what it shows:

Type: Video
Data Rate: 4984Kbps
Length....

Frame Size
848x480
29.97 fps

Audio
Format 16 bit, 44100 Hz, Mono
Compression PCM

Here it shows that it has audio, but it doesnt want to play. I also checked the Native Audio panel, and all it show's is a blue straight line. Whats wrong sad.gif
other types of videos play sound like they should

I know that C2009 has an issue with mono audio. I would have to check it in C2010. Could you post a short file (less than 100MB) on UpforDown or YouSendIt?
------
Found a sample file online and Videowave doesn't import the audio correctly. I'll try to pass this on.

Using C2010 I loaded up a mov file from my cousins digital camera and it loads and plays fine in Videowave including the audio.
There is also no problem with VW in VHS2DVD (which "uses the C2009 VW).

These are the properties for the clip. Camera is a Panasonic DMC FX12

Maybe it's only a mono AAC audio file issue. The Casio files are H264 with mono AAC audio. I have two samples from two different Casios and neither import with audio.

Walt - try this file
What I find odd is that Media Manager reports the audio is 16bit, 44Khz PCM and it's definitely not PCM! Walt - play your file with Quicktime. Click on Window / Show Movie Inspector. What does it say?

Thanks, Looks like Media Manager is calling all audio PCM. LOL I have no problem with 16bit stereo AAC audio files.

Thanks - got the file just fine. We'll see if we can find a solution for you. Do you have C2010 or C2010 Pro?

We'll I guess nothing will work except converting the video files. I found a great program though, which is free, and converts MOV files to a variety of other types, and it also encodes with H.264. Link is here.

Thanks for trying to help me out guys smile.gif

If you have Creator 2010 PRO, then you have Sound Soap. This is a little longer but would also work. Add the mov file to Sound Soap and save the audio to a wav file. Add the mov file to Video Wave and in the timeline mode, add that saved file to any other the audio tracks other than "native". This works especially well if you end up having a video/audio sync issues because the audio track can be time adjusted (where it starts)

Interesting. I have a Aiptek 1080p video camera and it uses the .mov format. I can't get audio in VW for any .mov file. But if I convert a .mov file to .avi, I get the audio in VW.

Unfortunately that's time consuming and extra effort. Fortunately there's some free software available from www.squared5.com, called MPEG Streamclip. MPEG StreamClip can do basic editing as well as convert the videos from many formats to another format.

One of the great features of MPEG StreamClip is it will do batch operations. E.g. suppose I need to convert 10 .mov files to .avi. I just select the .mov file, choose the format I want to convert it to and continue adding files until I have all 10. Then I press the GO button and it converts them one at a time and I don't have to sit and watch it or start the next conversion.

Any video converter will do the same. And there are probably dozens more.

All of this free stuff is great, but I just paid hard earned US Dollars for Roxio which from all apearances SHOULD perform the desires tasks, but WON'T.

Is there any chance that this wil be fixed in Roxio in the near future? mad.gif

Better to start your own thread with your own issue. What are you asking?

We don't work for Roxio so have no idea. I don't have any issue with MOV with only one exception and that is with those with mono audio. Some camera manufacturers don't follow the rules sometimes making it very difficult for software companies.

Sorry for the late response. Just rename your Aiptek file from .mov to mp4. There is no need to do any conversion - literally, just rename the file.

Cheers,
