I recently had my son uninstall itunes off my computer. Consequently, my Dell computer with Windows XP did not recognize or operate my D or E drives. I corrected the problem running a fix from Microsoft Windows Fix It support. Upon reboot, my missing drives had returned, but now my Roxio Easy CD Creator 5 will not burn CD's. When I press the red record button, it says no CD recorder recognized. Can anyone offer help or solutions? No problems before the microsoft fix. Thanks!

Hello DRF,
This is a FILTER PROBLEM that you have struck.
Microsoft maintain a registry key at
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
to deal with CD/DVD drives, and vendors of burning software are required to put their own filters into that key so that their software can see the drives.
If anything breaks in that key, then Windows can no longer see your drives.
If the filter(s) are not in that key, your burning software can't see the drives.
What has happened is that something broke in the key, so Microsoft deleted and reinstalled the key. However the deletion took out Roxio's filters, so now Easy CD Creator can't see the drives.
An expert could reinstall the Cdr4_xp filter into the "LowerFilters" value of that key, but it's quite complicated. Your easiest solution would be to Uninstall and then Reinstall Easy CD Creator 5. That should reinstate the filter which Microsoft removed, and let ECDC see your drive(s) once more.
Regards,
Brendon

I am using XP annd had this problem.
I did a Regedit of
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
and found lowerfilters entry to contain---> PxHelp20 Cdr4_xp
I modified the entry to put Cdr4_xp as the first listed, then PxHelp20
Both my DVD and CD recorders work now.
