I just installed Roxio 10 and tried to edit a photo.  All it does is try to start it, but never opens the photo edit program. Why is this hanging up?

Couple of questions… Need to confirm you actually have Creator 2010 rather than the loose reference to “Roxio 10”.

Assuming you have Creator 2010 does the Home application start and run OK?

How about other programs in the Suite?

I have Roxio Creator special edition 2010.  Sometimes I get error: no permissions to launch application.  I went under msconfig and disable all and turned off my anit virus. But I did that after I first ran installation.  I have tried to unistall the program and I got another error. Setup encountered an error during installation. error code: 04c7. I had Roxio Creator 2009 and had similar problems with the program shutting down.  I am running windows vista.  I tried running a clean install under a new admin, but that didn't work.  I am ready to give up!

Do you have UAC turned off in Vista? It interferes with the creation of temp files. Don’t know??? Search for UAC in Vista (User Access Control)

Try that first, also under Add/Remove programs, there is a Repair option in 2010.

But it may take a Clean Install to make it right so I will give you a link – Vista

I tried the UAC and the repair. It seemed like repair reinstalled the program but it still wouldn't start the photo edit.  I've gotten all the way to the registy edit on the clean install, but I don't want to do it.  Last time with roxio 2009 I must have erased something. Because when I restarted my computer it wouldn't start. Roxio 2010 is not on my computer, but I can't repair or uninstall it. How can I make sure if I completly remove it on the registry, I won't erase something else?  Is there any way to reinstall it?  I've tried to restore my computer to early dates and that has failed also.  I hate this program!

I can understand your reluctance... You can try this:

1. Uninstall as far as you will go.

2. Copy the contents of your Roxio disc to a folder on your HDD. – If you don’t have a disc, Expand the download into a folder on your HDD.

3. Create a new user account that has full administrative privileges.

4. Install with that account.

Keep track of any error messages if you get them and tell us what they say.

Copied the disc to my hdd. Created a new admin acount. Ran setup. Still shows either repair or uninstall when I run setup. nothing happens when I run repair. Set up error when I try to uninstall it. ?

You left out the part about dong the Clean Install down to the point of Reg Edit…

If you had done that you would be using the MS Install Cleanup utility which will uninstall the program.

If this doesn’t work then your best bet would be to call Support on Monday and work through it over the phone. There is not any charge for initial install problems.

Well, I spent ALL day on the phone, and on live chat. Didn't get anywhere.  I learned a lot about my computer! I asked for a refund after 40 mins on the phone the last time. They couldn't get Creator to install. Oh well, guess I'll be looking for a new program.  Have any suggestions for photo editing???
