Hi anyone,

I am trying to burn a video I just created in VieoWave-10 by sending it DVD Express.  However, I get the mesage "The following codec(s) must be activated before using the application    ----  MPEG-2"  When I click OK to activate it, Videowave crashes.  Sounds like my codec is damaged.  Any idea on how to deal with this.

Thanks for any help.

It doesn't sound like it is a codec issue but one where the "link" to the activation Window is broken.

"From Kb article:  Note: Importing, capturing, editing, copying (encrypted or copy-protected discs not supported), burning, exporting, or viewing MPEG-2 files, DVD-Video titles or HD-V video, and burning DVD, mini DVD, or SVCD discs requires a one-time product activation, via the Internet. Product activation is fast, free, and anonymous."

Is it a full copy of Easy Media Creator 10 or is is an OEM version from someone like Dell?  There are some problems with them.  The Dell OEM would have the DE designation along with the product name.

Has the program ever worked correctly?  Since it is a 2 year/version old program, I want to make sure that this is a new install or one that worked but doesn't work now.  It could be a problem that might occur if you used a registry cleaner and it deleted something that was not supposed to be deleted.  It it is a new problem where the program worked but doesn't now, try to use Windows to restore to an earlier time.

This is for EMC 9 but it might work here.    If that doesn't work, perhaps a full clean uninstall/install would be in order.

Do not use DVD Express, use the full MyDVD application if you have it.  Do you still get the same message?
Regardless of what I say about computer maintenance, there is no need to defrag a solid state hard drive.
