DVD or CD as hard drives Does this software allow DVDs or CD to be used as hard drives?

Does this software allow DVDs or CDs to be used as hard drives? If not what software does?

That would be, quietly now, packet writing. One could get scolded just for mentioning it around here. smile.gif

Vista Operating System has a form built into the OS, called Vista Live File System..

I used to be able to do it on my Windows 98 machine ... I was unaware that it went away ... I have a Windows 2000 and a Windows XP computer now ... why is it taboo?

Packet writing is a disaster waiting to happen - simple as that
However, keep in mind that transfer rates to and from optical discs are waaaay below those of magnetic disks, coupled with the small size sort of precludes them from being a hard drive replacement

Use a USB pen drive if you like, but forget about using opticals

USB thumb drives, or whatever you want to call them, can now be much larger than a DVD plus much faster. You also don't have the issue of compatibility. I've seen 16GB and 32GB within reasonable price.
