After problems with running the video convert module I attempted a remove/reinstall. The remove failed.
I then applied the "Clean Installation of Creator 9 & 10 on Windows XP" carefully (3 times) and each time the attempt to reinstall gave the Repair and Remove options only and both fail immediately.
Despite using the msicuu2.exe, the Add Remove option in COntrol Panel still shows Creator 10 Pro present (no details) and fails to remove or install also.

Totally stuck now. huh.gif

These are called Creator 2009 and Creator 2010 – use that so your post won’t be moved to the EMC 9 and EMC 10 Suites, of years ago, on the Forum.

If you print out and follow the Clean Install, it is going to remove everything. If it doesn’t, there is probably something that you are not telling us???

The purpose of this is normally to reinstall the program. Did you try that?

Make sure that this is the directions you're following.

If you follow those and still can't uninstall and then reinstall you've got a more serious problem.
The part about the Microsoft Install Cleanup Utility not removing the entry from Add/Remove is weird.
What that should do is remove the install info from your computer,making it look uninstalled.

What you don't want to do is only use it.
Do Add/Remove and then run the MSICU to see if any entries are there.

If all this fails then what I'd attempt is a manual cleaning of the registry.Go to Regedit and then do a manual search for Roxio and Sonic and get rid of everything.
Be Very Careful!!!!

Do you wanna hear me beg you to take me back?
I'd gladly do it because....."

Yes, it is creator 2010, thanks.

I have tried MS remove that failed.

I have used the instructions including the msicuu2 and the registry edit to remove all Roxio and sonic from disk and registry. I have removed all references I could find in the User/all users directories under applications and local settings (no hidden files). I have deleted all browsing history and cookies. This was done with virus detection disabled. (Norton) I can not find any references to Roxio anywhere except in the MS Remove programs that lists Creator 2010 but no details.

Using the Roxio disk, the startup offers only repair and remove, neither of which work.

Somewhere in XP there must be some residual memory of the previous install but where?

Any suggestions?

You probably have this folder hanging around. You can delete it
C:\ProgramData\Uninstall\{89A15676-78AE-4D51-BF5B-DEE3E0D46C94}

You should be using "Clean install instructions for Creator 2009 and 2010 on Windows XP" as Terry Brewster points out.

Thanks for the help and hints. Especially to Du Tran (Roxio) for the hint on removing C:\ProgramData\Uninstall\{89A15676-78AE-4D51-BF5B-DEE3E0D46C94}

Actually it was in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Uninstall\{89A15676-78AE-4D51-BF5B-DEE3E0D46C94}

I have successfully installed Creator 2010 Pro and tested OK.

I suggest the instructions in Clean install instructions for Creator 2009 and 2010 on Windows XP at
http://kb.roxio.com/search.aspx?URL=%2fcon...6CR&PARAMS=
be updated to include this folder in the list in Step 5 copied below.

5.Delete these folders from your hard drive. Not all folders may be present.

Note: When trying this step you may receive a message that a "file is in use". Simply drag that file to your desktop and it can be removed after restarting the computer. Also note that "Username" referred to below is the name you use when logging into Windows XP.

C:\Program Files\Roxio
C:\Program Files\Roxio Creator 2009 (may include "Special Edition" or "Ultimate")
C:\Program Files\Sonic
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Roxio Shared
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Sonic Shared

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Roxio
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Sonic
C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Application Data\Roxio
C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Application Data\Sonic
C:\Documents and Settings\user name\Local Settings\Application Data\RoxioCentralFX

Empty the recycle bin once the steps above are completed.

Cheers
