After a sucessful install and registration of store bought Roxio Creator 2009 I was presented with an important update. During the install of the patch which is Roxio's sp4 for Creator 2009 (appox. 52 megs) I received this error.
"Cannot delete target file: C:\program Files\Roxio Creator 2009\5.0\Filters\SonicHDDemuxer.dll"
Uninstalling and reinstalling gave me the same results. I also tried Knowledgebase Article 000214CR which deals with install being interupted and can't be completed.
Uninstalling NET Framework 3.5 didn't help and the file dsetup.dll the artice asks to rename doesn't exist in my System32 hidden file.
Can anyone offer me a suggestion?

Ouch… The KB advice you applied have nothing to do with your problem and may have really mucked things up…

First lets see just where you stand. What works?

Start the Home app and click on Help – About. Does it list a SP in the Version number?

Then go through the Home apps and play with the programs that have the little Arrow beside them. (that indicates it is a Program)

Note any that crash or just don’t seem to work, any error messages.

That should tell us if anything needs to be done.

Thanks for your reply.  Now the home app says Roxio has encountered a problem and needs to close.
I can open ALL the individual apps the video copy & create states my driver is out of date.
I created one 18 min. movie using creator classic and when using my dvd 2 days ago to burn I received the error - 8004520c - error while encoding movie.  However just now the encoding worked but 62% into the process Videowave 11 had an error and needs to close.
I guess this means I need to do the update and a clean install to begin with.
