I have both an IDE Optiarc 7170A and a Samsung SH-S223B SATA optical drive in my Powermac MDD. Apple System Profiler sees both the drives as "vendor supported" via Patchburn. Toast sees both the drives, but locks up when I try to switch to the SATA drive, or even if I just want to see the SATA drives capabilities. The OS (Tiger 10.4.11) is fully updated, the drives are both functional on other systems, and the Optiarc is fully functional on the MDD. The Samsung DVD burner is operating off a Seritek V4, as is my only HDD, a Raptor.
Does Toast 7 simply not support SATA drives? Is this an issue unrelated to Toast 7?
SATA drives with Toast 7?

I don't know the answer to either but a good guess is Yes to the first question and No to the second. There is something preventing Toast from communicating with the SATA drive and it may be because there were no SATA optical drives when Toast 7 was written.
I'm just a fellow Toast-user so please don't blame Roxio for any misguidance I may provide. And do let me know if your issue gets solved. Cheers from Eugene, Oregon!
