i am using roxio creator 10 and capture my video from my dvd that is in mpeg format that was recorded from my sony handycam.  i video directly to dvd.  i video in 16:9 ratio on dvd.  when i capture the video in roxio, it does not give the option to change the capture to the 16:9.  i have to have the capture in the wmv format.  i can change the capture to this but it will only capture in the regular ratio.  i change all availbale options and still come out the same.  even when i make a movie in the 16:9 ratio, the clips are still in the 4:3.  i am willing to upgrade to the new roxio if i can change this option and get it in the correct ratio.  i have looked at others with the same problem and they did not solve the problem with earlier versions.  i suppose avi will work but i am using windows movie maker and prefer wmv (less burning issues).  can anyone help?

What version do you really have? You are posting in the Creator 2010 forum but state you have Roxio Creator 10 and also talk about upgrading to the new Roxio (which is C2010)
If you record to a DVD camcorder you do not need to do any capturing. Simply copy the Video_TS folder to you PC.

I don;t know what burning issues you are having with wmv but you cannot burn wmv to a DVD and create a video DVD.

What is your final purpose?

i have creator 10.  i realize this forum is for creator 2010.  my question is for 2010 and if this version fixed the problem, i will buy it.  if i copy directly to my pc, i get the files in the mpeg format, which i cannot use in windows movie maker.  it does not work.  i am making a movie with video, pictures and music.  i have done this for 4 years, however, just this year i want the movie in widescreen.  you can burn wmv to a dvd through windows movie maker.  i have done it countless times.
