Hi:

I am very new to movie making and I'm not off to a good start with my project.  The problem is that I have video from two different cameras that needs to be edited together to make one movie.  The first is from a Panasonic PV-GS250 camcorder and the second is from the Sony DVD handycam. The picture package software that came with the Sony is worthless, and as I have learned, it is impossible to convert the files to anything that works with Windows moviemaker or Roxio's myDVD LE that came preloaded on my Dell.  It looks like 2010 will work with the DVD files, but will it convert both types so they can be combined into one movie?  What format will it ultimately be saved in?

Also, can you integrate still photos into the video?

It looks like this a really neat product that will hopefully make this project much easier for me.  Can anyone give me some encouraging words?

The OEM programs that are bundled with a PC are crippled junk!

It is a very powerful editor and will do all of that and much more.

Video file formats can get a little ugly at times. But I don’t recall anything from Sony or Panasonic really being any problem…

If you will tell us what extension yours have, we can better advise.

There are 2 basic programs that you will use to deal with making a DVD. The Editor and the Authoring software (VideoWave and MyDVD)…

You do all of your editing, slideshows, transitions and special effects in VideoWave. Your originals will never be touched, altered, or resaved. You save what you want in a Production file which does not contain a single picture or frame of video… It contains pointers to those files and instructions on what you want to do to them..

You build you Menus and add your VW Productions to MyDVD.

If you do have a real need to edit and output, VW has an Export As function.

The Sony files are MPEGs, not sure about the PAnasonics but they're not the ones I'm having trouble with.  Do you know if it can be downloaded to more than one computer?  I need to be able to work on projects on both my PC and laptop.

The EULA is specific and says One Software = One PC!

You should be OK on the files. If not we can probably find a workaround.

OK – just don’t sit on it!

Get it installed, start using it and post any problems/questions right away.
