I have a boxed version of Creator 9 Suite on my old computer running Visa 32 bit. I have ordered a new Dell Studio 64 bit desktop which will also come with Vista but with the W7 upgrade. It will also come with Creator 10 Premier Blu-ray.

I have read some of the postings re the pros and cons of the various versions. I have seen ads already for boxed Creator 2010 for $70.
My intention is to future proof somewhat a new computer and not muck it up right off with a lot of uninstalls, new installs etc.

I know there are various issues involved here so that is why I am asking for your opinions as to how to proceed.

Well, we should start by being clear on our versions. There is Easy Media Creator 9 (EMC 9), old, and Creator 2009, not quite so old. There is Easy Media Creator 10 (EMC 10), old, and Creator 2010 new. So, I'm guessing you mean Creator 2009, and Creator 2010 above?

Many programs that come pre-installed are OEM (Original Equipment Manufacture) versions, cut down, or "lite" or "crippled" versions of the full package. Now, if it comes pre-installed, you'll wind up having to uninstall, it, or the full Creator 2010 will do it when/if you buy and install that. So, you're probably not going to be able avoid at least one uninstall/reinstall, if you buy the full package.

That said, the best you can do to "future proof" is to buy the most recent version, and load that on it. But that only gets you as current as it gets. There will likely be a new version in a year or so.

Hope that helps!

I am buying a new Dell Studio with a BD burner that comes with the "Creater 10 premier blu-ray" and "powerdvd 8.3, blue -ray disk playback." It will have a Core 2 quad 2.5 ghz, 6 gb ram, geforce 9800GT, 1T HD, X-Fi extreme audio.

I have a boxed EMC 10 suite on my old computer. I have seen Roxio Creater 2010 on sale for $70.

I would like to future-proof the new pc somewhat and would naturally like to minimize installs/uninstalls on a new clean pc.

I've been reading the postings that say that 2010 would then require an additional cost plug in just to play BD's.

I would appreciate some buying assistance considering the various options and capabilities.

For what do you want to expect to use the Roxio software? Do you expect to do any video caprture/editing/burning (standard or BlueRay)? If all you want to do is play BlueRay and/or DVDs then the version that comes with your PC should be good enough. If you want more then I would suggest the latest C2010 Pro

It looks like you double posted, and someone moved it here. It looks like you were getting some assistance, yet you double posted anyway!

Oh, and you also hijacked another thread that had nothing to do with your question. blink.gif blink.gif mad.gif mad.gif
