I just downloaded and tried to use the latest update to ver. 9.09. when i try and drag Flac. or Wav. file into Toast it just crahes. Anyone out there have any thoughts or at least how to unistall the update?

You can have multiple versions of Toast on your Mac so if you have the older one backed up somewhere just put it back. Are you running Snow Leopard? What kind of Mac are you using?

The latest version of toast 9 I have is 9.0.7.  Is there really a 9.0.9?  I did a check for update and it says that 9.0.7 is up to date.

shoot im wrong....i updated to 9.0.7 and it crashes ....im using an Imac(1 yr old) with Snow leopard.

When the computer starts up again, please go to the following website and check for any update to your version of Roxio software, if an update is found for your version, please download and save the update. Install and Replace your version in Applications with the update.

So which version of Mac OS are you using and are you using an Intel Mac? I'd like to see if I get the same result but I need to know if I'm doing it on a similar station. I'll use Toast to create the flac tracks for my test.

Incidentally, a lot of those preferences are connected with Toast 10 Pro so I'm pretty sure you didn't find many on that list. What makes more sense to me is for you to open your root>Library>QuickTime folder and temporarily remove any third-party codecs. If that fixes the issue start dragging back codecs until it crashes again. If you have any xvid codecs be sure to trash them. Those are known to cause crashes.

I had just used Toast 9.0.5 to save a Disc Image of some Flac files and import as mp3 into iTunes (I keep iTunes as all mp3 to make syncing with all players easier). As I launched Toast I was told an update to 9.0.7 was available but ignored for the moment while I completed what I'd already started.
I then downloaded the update, installed and tried another set of Flac files, but dragging these into the Toast window simply caused a crash (same as 'gd7288'). I tried a couple more times (after re-booting) just in case it was a random thing, but it kept happening. So I went back to the other 'Flac' files I had already converted using Toast v9.0.5 and they also now caused the updated Toast to crash.
It's obviously something to do with the Toast update itself as I had actually successfully converted the original set of Flac files mentioned above with v9.0.5 before I updated. The only thing I had done was update to v9.0.7 and only after the problem did I revert to the remedies suggested in this thread which hasn't worked.

My system by the way is as follows:

iMac (5,1), Intel Core 2 Duo, 2.16GHz, 2GB RAM, OSX 10.4.11

If anyone can shed any light I would be grateful as I (foolishly) didn't keep the 9.0.5 version.

I tend to use the save as image file from the 'Audio' window (not the 'Copy' window) because I then mount and import the Disc 'Image' into iTunes and allow iTunes to do the MP3 conversion as Toast doesn't convert to MP3 and it has always worked so the 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it' rule always applied.
I have now tried using the 'Convert' window and the Flac files also cause a crash here as well. Simply dragging them into the window causes the crash. The only Toast window (in v9.0.7) that allows a dragged import without crashing is the 'Data' window. But, this makes sense as it doesn't need to know what the data is, or check for compatibility if it is simply going to copy it.
I have other conversion software that can make the MP3 files for me but I actually prefer to let iTunes do the conversion to make sure the files are compatible with whatever iPod or iPhone I attach. Or is this just a silly 'biased' support for Apple.

Any light anyone may be able to shed on this frustrating problem would be appreciated. See my previous post for the equipment spec I use.

It appears to be the 9.05 update on the japan site.  I downloaded and installed, and all seems ok (I too was having the crashing on flac files with 9.07).  Everything is in English.  

I did have a message that said it thought the image was corrupt when it was mounting, but I ignored and installed anyway.  Seems to work fine, and I think I remember that message when I installed the 9.05 update way back when anyway.

Use at your own risk, of course.

Btw, I found it by searching for Toast 9.05 update on google.  Found the link below on macupdate.com:

Tried downloading there, but of course got redirected to the regular update site.  So I copied the exact file name, googled it, and got the site above and the japanese update site which was still on 9.05.  

So I'll just use this until they patch the 9.07 update.  Fun, fun..

I'm having the same issue with using Snow Leopard and using the latest version 9.07.  Everything was working great until I updated to the latest release.  I'm now downloading 9.05 to go back.  Yes, there was an issue with the disk loading but there was a work around.  Right now, I can't burn any .flac files without the program immediately crashing.  The trouble issue is sent to Apple.  Below is a Error Report sent to Apple

Back to Version 9.05 and it works great!   There is definitely a problem with version 9.07.

My thanks as well for the link back to 9.05. At least I know I'm not alone in having the issue with 9.07 crashing.
Of course, 9.05 keeps wanting me to update it to 9.07. Until they get it fixed, I don't think so!

Oh, for those keeping track... I'm running Snow Leopard (10.6.2) on a year-old iMac.

It appears to be the 9.05 update on the japan site.  I downloaded and installed, and all seems ok (I too was having the crashing on flac files with 9.07).  Everything is in English.  

I did have a message that said it thought the image was corrupt when it was mounting, but I ignored and installed anyway.  Seems to work fine, and I think I remember that message when I installed the 9.05 update way back when anyway.

Use at your own risk, of course.

Btw, I found it by searching for Toast 9.05 update on google.  Found the link below on macupdate.com:

Tried downloading there, but of course got redirected to the regular update site.  So I copied the exact file name, googled it, and got the site above and the japanese update site which was still on 9.05.  

So I'll just use this until they patch the 9.07 update.  Fun, fun..

9.0.7 crashes when I drag a flac file to the audio source pane. I restored 9.0.5 and all is well.

I got an answer from Roxio today. According to them, Toast 9.0.7 isn't SUPPOSED to work under Snow Leopard. It's supposed to be run under Tiger. Sounds to me like they just want us to lay out the buck$ to upgrade to Toast 10.

I can confirm it as well (just found this thread) - Toast 9.0.7 crashes with absolutely every FLAC file dragged to it (to the music pane, of course) as well as when trying to open any old .disc file that contains FLACs. Reverting to 9.0.5 solves it.

I understand that a company will focus on the recent release (i.e. Toast 10) but in this case a working version (9.0.5) was broken by an update - and that *should* be fixed.

I must confess that I'm currently sticking to Toast 9.0.5 because it *finally* solved the de/muxing bugs with MPEG files that existed all the way from Toast 7, 8, 9->9.0.4

It took such a long time to get fixed that I'm really scared now to buy Toast 10, because I somehow fear that it may stop working again... and actually something *did* stop working in 9.0.5->9.0.7 right now...

So... PLEASE... fix it!

I am still using Tiger (OSX 10.4.11) and crashed while attempting to drag FLAC files with Toast 9.0.7.  Now thanks to your help I'm back in business using 9.0.5.
