Using Roxio 2010 when I load a video prior to burning using "Fit to Disc" the indicator says that I have just a few seconds of DVD space left unused.
When I burn the video it gets compressed to approx 3gb leaving 1.7 gb unused and having been burnt at a lower quality than I require.
I think that it may be because I set ffdshow to be used all of the time. Now I cannot find it to unset it.
Is this my problem or has anyone any other ideas and suggestions?
Unwanted compression of video

What format is the original file? If it is MPEG 2 DVD compliant, try using 'Same As Original' setting.

The “Fit to Disc” setting is part of MyDVD.
It is a poor choice!
Try Gary’s suggestion of Same as Original and see what happens.
Plan B: ‘Burn’ the project at High Quality as a File/Folder, then use Video Copy and Convert to Actually burn that Folder to disc.
VCC will re-render to fit your media and does a much better job then MyDVD
More than likely, the real problem is that you are trying to fit too much on a 4.7GB DVD… If your Source is good and you don’t want a lousy picture, plan on 1 hour of HQ for a 4.7GB.

Also, disable your ffdshow, since Creator 2010 already has the needed codecs installed.
Actually, I don't know that MyDVD would use fddshow codec, anyway, so diabling it may not be necessary.
