But I think that's enough of my little rant for the time being ... off to shop for a new CD burning software.

Well, y'all come back now, ya hear?
According to most of the folks, who have loaded Win 7, and posted here, Win 7 and Creator 2009, work together, quite well.
And you ranted, but provided absolutely no useful information on your problem. You want to try again?

Fair enough...
This is what happens when I install creator 2009. First thing I noticed is that the installation process seems to take longer than I remembered, but that could have been my imagination. When the software installs however and I try to access it a window pops up with a message saying that Creator 2009 is not compatible with Windows 7. It than gives me the option to either look for a solution online, which comes up with nothing, or to run the program. When I run the program it crashes immediately. If I try to run the application individually I get a missing .dll file message with 'video wave' and a general error message stating that the program can't start when I try the CD burn software. (Sorry I didn't write down the precise error code and at this time uninstalled Creator again so that's as much detail as I recall.) I read somewhere that this could happen when the milcore.dll file is missing but mine was in the directory it was supposed to be in. I than read that installing the SP4 for creator 2009 will help, but when I installed it nothing would work at all. Whenever I clicked on any of the Roxio icons in the start menu programs list I would get a message saying that 'the shortcut is no longer valid and would I like to delete it?'... I will try to reinstall again and see what are the precise error codes I get.
I should also mention that when I installed Windows 7 it was a clean install, using the upgrade disc for the 64-bit Home Premium version, and upgrading from the 64-bit version of Vista Home Premium. Not sure if the 64-bit software would make that much of a difference with Creator '09? I could try running the 32-bit on my laptop, but if it didn't work than it would leave me with no option for burning CD's at all.

Aside from my venting making me feel a bit better I went back to re-install Creator 2009 again, for either the 5th or 6th time today. The install itself took about 27 minutes, and when it completed I tried to access the Creator Central and got a message stating that the program stopped working and either close it or search for solutions online. I than tried accessing the individual modules and lo and behold they actually opened. after the first one opened another window opened with the Roxio updater which said that there is an important update available. After downloading and installing it it seems to be working as it should again.
This is probably the weirdest thing that I've seen happen in a very long time. Now to attempt the install on my laptop and see what happens.

Nothing weird at all. If you had stated your problem right away instead of ranting, someone would have told you to try the latest updates

I did... they crashed the program. The auto update didn't pop up till the last time and the latest service pack, when installed direct from the roxio site, didn't help at all. When I tried to activate a program it would tell me the shortcut was no longer valid and ask to delete it.

Well, I'm glad that you are up and running. Maybe the rant did help, like you say it did.

I tried installing Creator 2009 on my laptop now, which is the 32-bit system. When I tried to access Roxio Central this is the screen I got...

Hit 'Run Program' and this is the result...

After installing ServicePack 4 ... this is what I get when trying to access Roxio Central...

And here is what happens when I try to access individual apps...

Before installing the SP4 on the comp the individual apps worked on their own, just not Roxio Central. After the SP4 nothing works at all. I now know that it is possible to get it working but mine seems to have only started working by fluke and I still don't really know what is happening.
Hope this ends up helping someone...
Update... Finally figured out the problem. During installation of the Service Pack my antivirus appears to have interfered. I don't know what it did because the SP would install apparently normally, but when I tried to access it it would malfunction. When I reinstalled with the AV software paused it installed normally. For anyone out there running the Kaspersky AntiVirus. That seems to be what is causing the issue by interfering with the install process.
