I recently purchased the roxio creator 2010 for the purposes of creating a slideshow. I though the photoshow was a great tool and after buying the premium upgrade I find out that you can only add one audio file. So in turn I defaulted to the slideshow assistant as an alternative. I've laid out my pics and music and when I go to preview only a handful of pictures appear. I obviously need help. If somebody could send some advice my way I'd appreciate it. Thank you.

Use Video Wave to create your slide show; you can add as much music as you want and as many photos as you want.
If you are not seeing images, it is an issue with your video card/chip. Update the drivers for it from your computer manufacturer or from the video card/chip manufacturer.
You will also want to make sure you are rendering (encoding) in the software mode. Some people have issues with the Assistant so I don't recommend using it. Here is where to change to software encoding. In Video Wave, get to it from the top menus, tools, options, software.
What is the format for the images? Are they all the same format? Are you rearranging them or editing them once you get them into the Assistant?
Regardless of what I say about computer maintenance, there is no need to defrag a solid state hard drive.

I was trying to create a slideshow using the slideshow assistant wizzard. The pictures are there when I add them and I've already put them in order prior to adding them, so that's not adding to the problem. The problem was when I went to preview the show the only slides that showed up with the music were the one's that were recently created. They are the blank slides with very little text then it continues to go through the music and will only display a black screen. The images are all jpeg format. No editing is being done using the software, all images were edited prior to adding them. The video card says it's operating and it's the most current driver according when I attempt to search for updated drivers. All images and music are being pulled from the same folder on my desktop. I can't believe I'm having so much trouble with this. I really appreciate your ideas and suggestions feel free to send more. Thank you.

Don't trust Windows to find an updated video driver. Do it yourself via your computer manufacturer's web site or the manufacturer's website of the video card/chip.
Have you tried a short slide show using VideoWave?
