I am at the end of my rope. I have spent days and over 10 DVDs trying to burn 1 DVD successfully.
QUESTION: What is the best method for high chance of success of burning a DVD from edited footage.
Example.
Video Footage imported from a VCR tape using USB capture.
Edit for content using VideoWave.
Send to My DVD to create menus and chapters.
I can get this far.
When I burn to DVD, it screws up. No error codes, shows completion, but DVD will not work "properly" in DVD player or DVD player on computer.
Some examples of not working properly.
Player reads its a DVD, but plays nothing.
Player pops up to a menu that looks correct, but can not select things from it. If you hit play on the DVD player, some play others freeze at the menu.
Those that play, either you can or can not use the forward/back/next chapter buttons.
I have tried burning DVD image to test it. Some seem to work correctly there, but when I burn to disc from disc image, it does not work correctly.
I have tried burning without doing a disc image.
I have tried doing both at the same time (checking both boxes).
QUESTION: What am I doing Wrong?
Creator 2010 Special Ed, SP1
Just "repaired" the install, although not sure if anything was wrong with it to start with. In my search on the forum, it came up a lot.
Updated all drivers (vid were up to date)
QUESTION: Now I can't create an emulated drive, for some reason it times out after multiple restarts. Why/ How to fix?
LAST QUESTION: What is the best format to save this data on my hard drive in case of scratched DVD? MP2? Disk image? AVI??
I don't really want to save the original video capture files/project. The files are much bigger than needed and were heavily trimmed for useable footage.

Buy a disc or 2 of DVD RW media, stick to a good brand like Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden.
Before you buy any READ your Player’s manual to see if it prefers ‘plus’ or ‘dash’ media.
Most of use burn to File (ISO) in MyDVD, then use one of the other programs to burn to disc.
Using a Virtual Drive to test an ISO is a good idea. I don’t think it is a good sign that you are having trouble… On the other hand Roxio’s drive program is not that good. I use a 3rd party program.

I'll buy the DVD RWs. I just completely uninstalled and re-installed Roxio Creator 2010 Sp. Ed. thinking the repair screwed up the Emulated drive function. Still no go on that. Back to tech supp. for that.
What is the best way to save/backup/archive these files IF I ever get them burnt correctly. I'm starting with a poor to fair VHS quality video, so looking great isn't as important as being able to reproduce at the original VHS quality.
Also, What do most folks do burn an ISO image or copy files over to the VIDEO_TS folder?

ISO files take care of themselves when burned! You can’t just slap files onto a disc and think they will work!
DVD Movies must be Authored or they will not work! An ISO is Authored and ready to burn when burned with a program like Creator Classic or Burn Disc Image.
Edit: I tried the Disc Image Loader and it really did screw up Win7… I have turned it in for someone to look into.
