Just installed the software and captured my first clip from VHS. One minute of video is over 200 meagbytes in size. Is that normal? A two-hour video would be about 14 gigabytes or 4 DVDs. Does that sound about right?

Edit: OK, I switched the "Capture Setting" to DVD SP and now 1:00 of video is 30.3 MB. That's about what I was expecting originally.

You just changed your setting to lousy video.  If you capture as DV-.avi/.avi, it is your best quality, and 1 hour of video is about 12GB.  File size means nothing when you are referring to video.  Time does.

You can get 1 hour of video, at best quality, on a standard DVD.

Interesting...that's a foreign concept to me. File size seems like it would mean everything but I'm sure you know what you're talking about. I just got the software today and am looking forward to putting many, many, Jordan-era Chigao Bulls games on DVD.

I also have the first two hours of "breaking news" from CNN and Fox News on 9/11/01 that I want to put on DVD.

You better get some DL discs, then.  For 2 hour videos, you will need them.
