Hi!

been awhile since I have been on here. I have been a Roxio/Sonic customer for a number of years and have been pretty satisified. I now have TWO questions and am hoping for som ehelp. Thanks in Advance.

#1. I have Easy Media creator 9 suite and downloaded SP4 for creator 9. It will not install on my system. Is creator 9 different from Easy Media creator 9?

#2. I have 3 Western Digitial Hard drives. Two internal E and H and One External O.

I back up all my music (dubbed from LP in PCM WAV to these hard drives as well as Home videos and tons of photos)

Each H.D. is a back up of the other. When I Use Roxio Easy Media Creator 9 to Video Capture or Audio capture. I put the files in a holding directory until I edit them. Once edited I copy them to the Hard Drives. I have no problems with Drive E 1TB drive nor do I have a problem with drive H 1tb. When I back up to the 1TB External, I get a grey box with something about a Roxio Stream attached, do I want to proceed or somehting. I click Yes and it continues and is slower than the other two drives. Thinking it had to do with the USB port, I tried a different WD External drive, I have a 750 gig I tried and it worked fine.

What is causing that grey box to appear and what do I do to get rid of it. sad.gif

Thanks.

There is no such program as Creator 9.

There is a Easy Media Creator 9 and a Roxio Creator 2009. They are 2 versions and years apart. The SP4 patch applies to C2009 so of course it will not install if you have EMC 9. EMC 9 is no longer supported.
BTW, the latest version is Roxio Creator 2010

You are the man, your reply seems to be EXACTLY what I am witnessing. Thanks. When I get home I will turn it off.

I do wonder, why when I plugged another USB External drive in, why I didn't get the message.

Thanks for the Help.

I know there is no more EMC 9. I never dealt with CREATOR 9 so was not aware of two types of Creator. Sorry for my ignorance. They call it Creator 2010 and don't seem to be calling it EMC 10. I was confused.

I have no intents to upgrade, just because they have a NEW version. I currently own, 5, 7, 8 and or 8.5 and 9. I liked the format of 5 the best for copying from LP to PC. I was also able to install 5 on two of my PCs where the later versions are for one PC only. So my money stays in my pocket, until I absolutely need to spend it. I have known, since the Creator 5 days and before, that Sonic/Roxio doesn't offer patches, (well they offer them, but they are rarer than 3 dollar bills), they offer new versions. I have looked for patches and tried to update everytime I run the program and have never witnessed a patch.

Thanks for the info of Creator 10, but currently, NOT INTERESTED.

An extract from the link I provided says "... If you attempt to copy a file which contains a data stream to a non-NTFS drive or USB storage device such as a USB memory key, you may receive you may receive the following error message:". Is the external drive (where you don't get error) an NTFS and non-USB drive (maybe firewire, for example)?

No! both are Western Digitial External Book type drives, except the one it worked on was a 750 gb and the one that it does it on was a 1tb, I thought maybe I should have used a WD format procedure or something. I was confused and sometimes when I got that message, it would take minutes whereas the other drives only took seconds.

You seem to hit the nail on the head and I am thankful for that, I will disable it when I get home and when I do, I am hoping it will stop with whatever it was doing.

FYI the 750gb is used on my NEWER Laptop that was first copied onto with Windows Ultimate 64 bit and the 1tb is hooked up to one of my older desktops that is using XP with all upgrades and patches. You think?
