I've been having many many issues with the 2009 Creator Premier that came with my computer.
It will usually successfully copy an non-protected DVD, sometimes after 3-4 tries. If the DVD is larger than 4.7Gigs it never gives me an option to compress or fit to disc when I insert a blank disc. And when I insert a blank DVD-R, Creator is saying it's unrecognized and will eject it. I tried Sony and TDK.

I got DVD Shrink to compress my DVDs after this, which it seems to fine.

I tried using Data Disc to burn the DVD. I'll drag the TS Audio And TS Video into the appropriate box, and it will start to burn at 1.0x (what I set it to). It reads the DVD-r in Data Disc on the first attempt. Usually within 20 minutes it will stop saying there is a problem writing the disc and will eject it. It then won't read any other blank I put in.

I got it to burn successfully this way once. Stuck the DVD in my (non computer) DVD player. Worked fine. Put it in my laptop and none of my DVD players could read it.

This has been really really frustrating. Should I try a different disc format?

Oh, and I'm running Vista. Don't know how to change the DMA.

Creator Premier is a scaled down OEM version of the product which does not offer many many functions that are available in a full blown retail version of product. Since you already have a compressed SL DVD Video content, you can simply use "imgburn". If using Data disc under Roxio Creator Premier, go to options and change Files System to UDF.

Thank you! Will try this and let you know. Lovely to know I paid extra when ordering my computer for a non-full version.
